"He could literally add Alex Jones, Tucker" — Jeremy Herrell thinks Elon Musk should buy MSNBC as Comcast considers cable network spinoffs

On November 13, 2024, Live From America TV host Jeremy Herell suggested that Elon Musk buy MSNBC amidst news of Comcast considering cable network spinoffs. In a video posted by the LFATVUS page on X, Jeremy Herell mentioned in the caption:

"Comcast is selling MSNBC because ratings are in the toilet. If Elon Musk bought it, he could literally add Alex Jones, Tucker, and anyone else who was railroaded by MSM and big tech! I'd be willing to do a show, too! We are truly MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"

In the video, Jeremy Herell addressed Musk directly and said:

"Hey Elon, I have an idea. Buy MSNBC, buy MSNBC today and put Fox News out of business."

Herell also suggested he buy the network and put people running big podcasts as anchors to collide the worlds of podcasts with mainstream media. He said people like Alex Jones and Tucker Carlson should get slots on the network alongside their shows on X.

Jeremy Herell added that since Musk already owns X, he would get MSNBC at a fraction of the cost.

"You are the media now": Elon Musk comments on X post reporting drop in MSNBC's viewership

Per Reuters, dated October 31, 2024, global media and technology company Comcast shared that it was considering spinning off its cable networks, MSNBC and CNBC, into a separate company. The publication mentioned their reason was a decline in TV viewership, as consumers have shifted to streaming.

Comcast's potential spinoff would exclude the Peacock streaming service and NBC broadcast network. However, the media and technology company is seeking a partner to grow Peacock in terms of business, as communicated by Comcast president Mike Cavanagh.

While Jeremy Herell's suggestion on Live From America TV has sparked rumors of the possibility that Elon Musk might buy MSNBC, the Tesla CEO commented on a drop in MSNBC's viewership via a post on X. On November 13, 2024, @AutismCapital posted statistics stating:

"FUN FACTS: Did you know viewership for MSNBC is down 23% and CNN is down 40% since Trump won? MSNBC is down 54% and CNN is down 30% for primetime. MSNBC host Alex Wagner had her worst rated show in history and Chris Hayes had his worst rated show since May."

Elon Musk re-tweeted the same and commented on it indirectly, praising his platform X, saying:

"This platform is at all-time highs. You are the media now."

The Elon Musk (Parody) account took to X on November 12, 2024, re-tweeting @BreannaMorello's post claiming Comcast was putting MSNBC up for sale. Morello said the source of her news was Comcast president Mike Cavanagh's statement during the media and tech company's third-quarter earnings call.

Commenting on the same, the Elon Musk (Parody) X account questioned if he should buy MSNBC, further stating that doing so would allow him to fire every journalist who doesn't believe in free speech.

Musk hasn't commented on rumors of him buying MSNBC from Comcast yet.

In other news, Donald Trump announced on November 12, 2024, that Musk and former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy will lead the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
