Jeannie Mai accuses Jeezy of “embarrassment, and oppression” over bank records subpoenas
Jeannie Mai has accused her ex-husband Jeezy of embarrassing and oppressing her after the latter subpoenaed her back records. According to a Monday, November 18, report by In Touch, Jeannie Mai's latest court filing claimed that Jeezy sent her two separate subpoenas in October. The first, she claimed, was a secret subpoena her former husband's legal team did not inform her about.
The television personality requested the removal of the subpoena her ex-husband sent to City National Bank asking for her bank account statements (personal and business), deposit slips, and evidence of withdrawals before November 1. Mai's divorce from the rapper was finalized in June of this year. In Touch quoted Mai's statement on her court filings, which described the subpoenas as:
"Oppressive, unreasonable and not calculated to lead to the discovery of admissible evidence and are requested for the purposes of annoyance, embarrassment, and oppression."
Jeannie Mai claimed that Jeezy filed a "secret subpoena"
According to court filings obtained by In Touch, Jeannie Mai claimed that her ex-husband Jeezy sent her one subpoena on October 22 and another on October 28. In her latest motion, the television personality called the first a "secret subpoena" as her ex-husband's team had allegedly not informed the 45-year-old about the filing.
As mentioned, Mai requested that the court drop the rapper's initial subpoena to City National Bank because it was allegedly oppressive and unreasonable. The same statement was echoed by Mai's lawyer in the court filings, who alleged that the subpoenas were "overbroad." Mai's lawyer added:
"Ms. Mai has provided numerous alternative avenues for [Jeezy] to obtain the information that he is now requesting from Ms. Mai’s personal and business bank accounts from the time period of June 2024 to October of 2024."
After finalizing their divorce on June 11, 2024, Jeannie Mai filed a lawsuit against Jeezy in September for contempt, claiming that the rapper was not honoring their divorce agreement. Mai claimed that her ex-husband refused to pay particular school and daycare costs and $500,000 in a bank account for their daughter Monaco.
Mai also accused Jeezy of owing $4,000 in childcare and tuition, $92,000 of Mai's four months' rent, and not transferring the titles to two cars, a 2021 Range Rover and a 2022 Ford Bronco. Mai's lawyer recalled the previous court filing obtained by In Touch and said:
"Given [Jeezy’s] propensity for failing to pay his financial obligations, both in his prior unrelated custody case, and based on the number of lawsuits that have been filed against him by his former employees and associates regarding non-payment of debts, it is clear that [Jeezy] motive in issuing said subpoena was for no other purpose than to harass and intimidate Ms. Mai."
Jeezy had earlier denied the accusations by Mai in her September filing. According to In Touch, the rapper claimed that Mai's filing was a blatant misrepresentation allegedly intended to delude and mislead the court. The rapper alleged that Mai sent him various unverifiable agreements without proof of payment when asked for confirmation on her lease agreement.
A motion filed by the rapper's lawyer argued that Jeannie Mai was trying to get a "status quo housing allowance" reimbursement that she allegedly never incurred, needed, or paid. The motion accused the television personality of not paying monthly rent since moving from her and Jeezy's marital home.
Jeezy stated in the filing that he would have paid the monthly rental payment if Mai had provided him with proof of it. The rapper denied the claim that he did not put $500,000 in his daughter's bank account and added that Jeannie allegedly failed to turn over childcare receipts for him to review.
Jeezy further claimed that transferring vehicle titles took time due to a processing request delay at the DMV. He asked for the shutdown of Jeannie Mai's motion for contempt.
