"Can burp the alphabet" — Elon Musk's job posting for DOGE gets hilarious responses on the Internet

President-elect Donald Trump recently announced the formation of DOGE, a US presidential advisory commission, which would be led by billionaires Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. On Thursday, November 14, 2024, DOGE posted on X that they were hiring.

The tweet listed the requirements that they were expecting in a candidate. It read:

"We don’t need more part-time idea generators. We need super high-IQ small-government revolutionaries willing to work 80+ hours per week on unglamorous cost-cutting. If that’s you, DM this account with your CV. Elon & Vivek will review the top 1% of applicants."

The tweet didn't go unnoticed and garnered a huge number of responses. It already had been viewed more than 14 million times and liked over 152k times.

Here are some popular responses found on X, formerly known as Twitter. A user (@greg16676935420) wrote:

"I’d love to join here’s my resume: - B+ in Science - JV soccer team (2 years) - Can eat >10 Oreos in one sitting - Owner of several Dogecoins - Can burp the alphabet - Can run fast (top 25% of class)."

Talking about the criteria mentioned by the Elon Musk-led commission, another user wrote:

"Your first job in making things more efficient is to actually open up your DMs."
"Doesn’t sound efficient if it requires you to work 10-15 hours per day," added a tweet.
"You're going to get so many applicants who took a Facebook shared IQ test that it's going to be hysterical," wrote another user.

While so many users mocked or criticized the efficiency of DOGE as promised, many expressed complete trust in it. A user tweeted:

"This sounds like a dream job 🤩."
"This is seriously the coolest thing ever," commented a netizen.
"This is what merit looks like. Love it," added a tweet.

The tweet made by DOGE spoke about the required skills and IQ but didn't mention any particular educational qualification needed to apply. No information about remuneration and benefits were mentioned in the post.

Elon Musk confirmed that he wasn't getting paid to head DOGE

After US Senator Elizabeth Warren took to X, and appeared to be questioning the efficiency of DOGE. The tweet caught Elon Musk's attention who responded through another post in which he wrote that he wasn't getting paid for the job. In the tweet, dated November 14, Musk wrote:

"Unlike you, neither of us are being paid, so it is very efficient indeed. DOGE will do great things for the American people. Let history be the judge."

Elon Musk further mentioned that to maintain total transparency, all the actions would be updated online. Musk also wrote in the tweet that the public would have a platform to express their opinions about the functioning of the advisory commission.

DOGE has sparked debates online, with some netizens believing that it was a great step towards betterment, while others are skeptical about its actual efficiency. No additional details about the hiring procedure have been updated as of now.
