"Could never imagine being so disrespectful": Fans react as Elvira reveals shady celebrity encounter with Ariana Grande
Horror legend Elvira went viral recently after sharing what it was like to meet pop star Ariana Grande. The former seemingly claimed that she was unimpressed with the latter’s antics.
Netizens have since taken to social media to react to the former’s account. This comes in the aftermath of Grande’s Wicked fan-edit controversy.
TikTok user ‘elviraisqueen’ took to the video-sharing platform to share a video of Elvira, whose real name is Cassandra Peterson, sharing what it was like to meet the 7 Rings singer. The Elvira: Mistress of the Dark star said at the Q&A session at Knott’s Scary Farm in Buena Park, California, on October 18:
“I’ll tell you briefly. She came and she brought 20 guests, so she wanted 20, 21 tickets. We’re like, ‘OK’ and we give her the tickets. She comes backstage and she asks if I could take pictures with all of her friends and relatives she brought. I take a picture with every single one of them. I sign autographs for every single one of them. Then I say to her- ‘Can we take a photo together?’ She goes- ‘Nah, I don’t really do that.’”
Elvira also alleged that Ariana Grande did not stay to watch her perform and ditched her show entirely when her guests stayed back. A presenter at the convention then quipped, “She’s playing the wrong witch,” while referring to Grande’s Glinda, The Good Witch, role in the Broadway musical Wicked.
Internet users were shocked by Peterson’s revelations. Many took to X to seemingly attack the 31-year-old singer, with one netizen saying:
Several others expressed similar sentiments and disbelief. Comments online read:
Wow, she sounds like a really rude person,” an X user said.
“Imagine turning your nose at the Queen,” a platform user said.
“Ariana Grande being typical Ariana Grande. Classless and all filled up with self-importance,” another netizen said.
The backlash comes after Ariana Grande seemingly received intense heat after getting into a relationship with her co-star Ethan Slater. The duo’s relationship was not well-received by followers, as the two had just separated from their respective partners before indulging in a romance of their own. Meanwhile, other reactions read:
“This doesn’t surprise me,” an X user said.
“I have a deep dislike of AG. I was so disappointed that she was cast in the big screen adaptation of Wicked. I'm not even going to see the movie in theaters,” a platform user said.
“Ariana Grande is so ugh,” another netizen said.
The Thank you, next crooner had not publicly responded to the allegations at the time of writing this article. Meanwhile, other reactions read:
“I’m not surprised at Ariana at all, very rude. If the wonderful Cassandra ( or any person in the film industry) did that for me, I would be ETERNALLY GRATEFUL for life,” an X user said.
“Wow I’ve heard AG was awful, but damn,” a platform user said.
Inside Ariana Grande’s Wicked poster controversy as singer seemingly comes under fire by Elvira
Variety revealed on October 19 that the Grammy-winning singer exclusively told them she was adjusting to artificial intelligence. This comes after Universal’s Wicked poster was tweaked by a fan where Cynthia Erivo’s eyes were covered by Elphaba’s witch’s hat.
An AI-generated video of Erivo's character and that of Grande's also went viral, garnering their attention. Addressing the controversy, Grande said:
“I think it’s very complicated because I find AI so conflicting and troublesome sometimes, but I think it’s just kind of such a massive adjustment period… And I have so much respect for my sister, Cynthia, and I love her so much. It’s just a big adjustment period. It’s so much stimulation about something that’s so much bigger than us.”
Wicked’s Broadway musical has since been adopted into a two-part movie directed by Jon M. Chu. The first part is expected to be released in November.
