Donald Trump's former chief of staff John Kelly claims he prefers "the dictator approach to government"
John Kelly, Donald Trump’s previous chief of staff recently spoke to The New York Times and revealed how the former President and a candidate in the upcoming presidential elections has been appreciative of Adolf Hitler in the past. He also shed light on how Donald was often frustrated by the fact that his power as a President was limited, as he said:
“He certainly prefers the dictator approach to government.”
John Kelly also revealed that the former President often stated that “Hilter did some good things too.” Furthermore, during the interview, the former chief of staff also revealed how the former President often described the previous veterans of the military as “losers and suckers.” He claimed:
“The former president did not want to be seen with amputees that lost their limbs in defense of this country.”
Donald Trump was the 45th President of the country, from 2017 to 2021. Post 2021, he lost to Joe Biden and has once again appeared as a candidate, against Kamala Harris. At the time, Mike Pence served as the Vice President, and Donald’s cabinet included other names like Rex Tillerson, Mike Pompeo, Steven Mnuchin, William Barr, Tom Price and even Rick Perry.
“He certainly falls into the general definition of fascist”- Details explored as John Kelly sheds light on how Trump admired dictators
During the interview, John Kelly did not just talk about the former President appreciating Adolf Hilter, he was also asked if he thought that “Trump was a fascist,” to which he responded saying that he “certainly falls into the general definition of fascist.”
He said:
“Well, looking at the definition of fascism: It’s a far-right authoritarian, ultranationalist political ideology and movement characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy. So certainly, in my experience, those are the kinds of things that he thinks would work better in terms of running America."
He continued:
“Certainly, the former president is in the far-right area, he’s certainly an authoritarian, admires people who are dictators — he has said that. So, he certainly falls into the general definition of fascist, for sure.”
Furthermore, this is not the first time that Trump’s alleged obsession with Hilter and dictatorship has come to light, as the 2022 book, The Divided: Trump in the White House, 2017-2021, the authors and journalists, Peter Baker and Susan Glasser wrote about the time Donald asked John Kelly why he could not “be like the German generals.”
Furthermore, The Atlantic published an article on October 22, 2024, where they asked the same question to Kelly, to which he responded by saying:
“German generals. Do you mean Bismarck’s generals? I mean, I knew he didn’t know who Bismarck was, or about the Franco-Prussian War. I said, ‘Do you mean the kaiser’s generals? Surely you can’t mean Hitler’s generals? And he said, ‘Yeah, yeah, Hitler’s generals.’ I explained to him that Rommel had to commit suicide after taking part in a plot against Hitler.”
However, as per CNN, Trump’s campaign advisor, Alex Pfeiffer denied this exchange, and stated that the news being shared by the masses about Trump being in favour of dictatorship is “absolutely false.”
On the other hand, Kamala Harris and her representatives have been prompt in using the statements by the people about Donald wanting dictatorship, in a rally in Wisconsin held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. Tim Walz, Harris’ running mate made comments about how Trump’s remarks about Hilter makes him “sick as hell.”
The upcoming elections in the country will be held on November 5, 2024. The citizens of the United States of America will go out and vote for the candidate of their choice to become the next President of the country.
