Fact Check: Is Disney permanently shutting down the Hall of Presidents exhibit after Trump's win? Viral TikTok video debunked
After Donald Trump's 2024 presidential win, a rumor emerged online that Disney had decided to permanently shut down the Hall of Presidents exhibit at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. The rumor took to the internet after a TikTok account (Mouse Trap News) shared the same on November 10, 2024.
It was soon circulated across various social media platforms, including X, where several netizens shared their concerns regarding the rumor, considering it to be true news. A user (@roaming_rn) wrote on X:
"Disney is closing its Hall of Presidents after Trump wins election. Who's the threat to democracy now?"
However, it is important to note that the rumor is not true. In fact, the information mentioned is satirical in nature, which can be concluded because Mouse Trap News is a satirical page. The 'About' section of its official website has listed it as "the world's best satire and parody site." It further reads:
"From Disney Park announcements to Disney Hotel and resort news to made-up Disney partnerships, you can be assured that anything you read here is not true, real, or accurate, but it is fun."
Thus, it goes without saying that no part of the recent information presented by Mouse Trap News regarding Disney and Trump is true.
Rumor about Disney shutting down the Hall of Presidents exhibit after Trump winning the elections is untrue
As mentioned before, the viral TikTok video, making claims regarding Disney after Donald Trump became the President, is fake. Meanwhile, apart from the video, Mouse Trap News also published an article mentioning the same rumor on November 9, 2024. The publication cited an internal source who apparently said:
"Disney no longer wants to have such a divisive show inside their theme park."
It also mentioned that Trump getting re-elected would be detrimental to the "spirit of Disney." Further in the article, it was stated that imagineers were already in the process of building a Kamala Harris animatronic, but then she lost the race, and that Disney would allegedly sell the animatronics in an auction now.
All these claims are satirical in nature, as also confirmed by Mouse Trap News' official page. Furthermore, this isn't their first time making such content.
In May 2024, they dropped an article that claimed the current President-elect was set to be removed from the Hall of Presidents exhibit. However, the 'About' section of the publication's official website further reads:
"While you read our articles, be sure to keep your hands, arms, feet, and legs inside the vehicle at all times, and remember these are strictly fictional for your enjoyment."
Last month, Florida Today reported that Disney's Hall of Presidents would get an update after the 2024 elections, as they would either install a new animatronic of Kamala Harris or refocus on the existing one of Donald Trump.
For those unaware, the 'Hall of Presidents' exhibit is a multi-media presentation made to educate people about the formation of the United States and all of its presidents.
