"Getting his tan all over the food" — Internet reacts to Trump serving french fries at McDonald's

On October 20, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump took on the role of a french fries attendant in one of McDonald's Pennsylvania branches. The former president also delivered the fries to people and held a news conference through the drive-through window as part of his presidential campaign.

Trump's stint at McDonald's came after he occasionally questioned Kamala Harris' experience working at the fast food chain for a summer when she was a student at Howard University. According to CNN, Trump walked into the McDonald's in Feasterville-Trevose and said to the owner:

“I’m looking for a job. And I’ve always wanted to work at McDonald’s, but I never did. I’m running against somebody that said she did, but it turned out to be a totally phony story.”

The news of the former president working at McDonald's was met with mixed responses on social media. Many trolled him, with one user tweeting:

Some turned Trump's rhetoric of immigrants stealing Americans' jobs on him, joking he was the one stealing jobs now. Others claimed he was trying to copy singer Lana Del Rey, who worked as a barista in a Waffle House in 2023.

"HE’S STEALING THEIR JOBS!!!! HE’S STEALING THEIR JOBS AND YOU’RE STANDING AND DOING NOTHING," one person tweeted.
"He wants to be lana so bad," someone else added.
"The lana del rey influence," another person commented.

Several people joked the former president was training for his next job if he lost the election to Kamala Harris.

"He’s learning new skills for once he loses the election," one person tweeted.
"Visual representation of what he’ll be doing in november after kamala sweeps the floor with him (IF he doesn’t go to jail)," another person added.
"Not him already training for when he loses the election," someone else commented.

However, others praised him for working at McDonald's, hailing him the "people's president."

"The PEOPLE’S PRESIDENT just put on his apron at McDonalds! Kamala Harris could never! President Trump is a LEGEND!" one person tweeted.
"Trump just showed up for his shift at McDonalds!! How can you not love this guy!?" another person questioned.

Donald Trump has often spoken about his fondness for McDonald's food

The former president has often spoken about his proclivity for fast food, especially McDonald's. He even has a go-to order at the fast food chain— two Big Macs, two Filet-o-Fish sandwiches, and a large chocolate shake.

According to AP News, Derek Giacomantonio, the owner of the McDonald's where the former president worked, welcomed him with open arms. He added that it was the company's "fundamental value" to open its doors to everyone in the community.

“It is a fundamental value of my organization that we proudly open our doors to everyone who visits the Feasterville community. That’s why I accepted former President Trump’s request to observe the transformative working experience that 1 in 8 Americans have had: a job at McDonald’s,” he said in a statement.

The restaurant was heavily secured during the Republican candidate's visit. An employee was seen teaching the former president to prepare french fries the McDonald's way. Following his work, he even answered some questions during a news conference.

In other news, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris celebrated her 60th birthday on October 20. She visited two Black churches in Georgia on her campaign trail, where she was serenaded by Stevie Wonder for her birthday.

Trump is expected to continue his campaign around Pennsylvania, while Harris will reportedly visit Chester County on October 21. Both candidates have two weeks left to secure votes before the election on November 5.
