"He genuinely believes he is a good dancer"— Internet reacts as video of Donald Trump dancing at his rally goes viral
Donald Trump was seemingly seen dancing for more than half an hour during an event at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center and Fairgrounds in Oaks, Pennsylvania, on Monday (October 14).
The former president made his first public appearance in Pennsylvania as part of the presidential campaign. However, the event was shortened due to two reported medical emergencies among attendees. As a result, he abandoned his routine discourse, and the meeting became an impromptu music listening session.
“Let’s not do any more questions. Let’s just listen to music. Let’s make it into a music. Who the hell wants to hear questions, right?” Donald Trump quipped.
A selected assortment of tracks played for no less than 39 minutes, with Trump swaying and dancing to the tunes. Songs like It's a Man's Man's Man's World, Nothing Compares 2 U, and YMCA filled the air, while Kristi Noem and others nodded along with the Republican leader.
“Total lovefest at the PA townhall! Everyone was so excited they were fainting, so @realDonaldTrump turned to music,” Trump said.
As the night wore on, Donald Trump and Noem briefly returned to important matters but soon returned to music. After explaining the importance of winning Pennsylvania to the crowd, Noem offered Trump the option to either answer a few questions or close with a song. Trump chose the latter, adding:
“How about a couple really beauties and we’ll sit down and relax.”
Netizens quickly took to X, sharing their opinion on Trump's dance moves. One user on X tweeted:
"The thing is .. he GENUINELY believes he IS a good dancer"
Several other netizens expressed their take on the social media platform.
"For me it was the dollar store version of "All that Jazz" frankly," joked another.
"The moment she realised...smile politely you're witnessing mental illness," declared one user.
Meanwhile, netizens pointed out that owners of the respective songs might file lawsuits against Republicans for using their work in an election rally.
"How long you think before we start hearing of a wave of lawsuits from the artists/their estates for playing their songs at his rally?" an X user wrote.
"People behind him checking their phones just want to get out of there," another individual chimed in.
"You can't help but laugh. I read somewhere that people fainted at the event that required medical attention, so Trump stopped the Q & A and played music instead," informed one netizen.
However, some fans supported Donald Trump's move.
"Two people passed out at the town hall with medical emergencies. Trump spent the time singing and dancing with his supporters. I thought it was cool," added a user.
"2 people fainted so he stopped his townhall it was so fun people were singing and dancing… stop being a hater!!!" said another.
"He’s fine. Sharp as a tack. Energetic. Charismatic. Full of life. A force of nature. Nothing to see here," inferred another fan.
The event culminated with a full-blown music party, with the crowd dancing to the tunes of YMCA. As the night drew to a close, Trump said:
“Nobody’s leaving, what’s going on? There’s nobody leaving. Keep going.”
What is Sundowning? Term trends after Donald Trump's dance show as Kamala Harris reacts
Shortly after the conclusion of Donald Trump's event in Pennsylvania, the term "sundowning" began trending on the internet. Many netizens took to X, claiming that the former president was suffering from sundowning.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, sundowning refers to behavioral changes that occur around sunset, primarily seen in people with Alzheimer's or dementia. Symptoms can affect memory, thinking, reasoning, behavior, and the overall personality of an individual.
Common symptoms include pacing, wandering, occasional violence, crying, insomnia, and sudden mood swings. Sundowning can also lead to confusion, paranoia, and hallucinations.
Many users on X have suggested that Donald Trump suffers from the ailment. For instance, one X user wrote:
"He’s literally sundowning. They forced Biden out of the race by implying he had cognitive decline which he does NOT but they won’t apply those same standards to Trump. It’s f**king infuriating."
Another agreed, tweeting:
"Trump couldn't even make it through a friendly Fox News-hosted Town Hall in PA without sundowning. Seriously. He just stopped taking questions and they bailed him out by playing his fav tunes, which he's forbidden from playing at rallies, while he danced awkwardly. Save us all."
However, it is worth noting that there is no evidence to suggest that Donald Trump suffers from any form of mental illness.
Meanwhile, Kamala Harris took to X on October 15 to express her views on the incident. Quoting a post from the official account of her presidential campaign, i.e., @KamalaHQ, she wrote:
"Hope he's okay."
The original tweet stated:
"Trump appears lost, confused, and frozen on stage as multiple songs play for 30+ minutes and the crowd pours out of the venue early."
Harris' tweet came after having called Donald Trump "increasingly unstable and unhinged" at a Pennsylvania rally on October 14.
