"He thinks he's co-President"— Internet reacts to Elon Musk still at Mar-a-Lago weeks after Trump won in the 2024 election

Social media platforms have been abuzz with commentary about Elon Musk's prolonged stay at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort. On November 13, 2024, Elon Musk was seen dining at Mar-a-Lago in Florida alongside Donald Trump and members of his inner circle.

The image of Musk at the event quickly circulated on social media, sparking a wave of reactions from users on X. Many suggested that the Tesla CEO "thinks he's co-president," as he was seen still at Mar-a-Lago weeks after Trump's presidential win. One netizen on X commented:

"He thinks he's co-President. Only so long until Trump taps out and can't take it anymore. This relationship may not end well."

As Musk was seen at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, numerous users on X speculated whether Musk might accompany Trump to the White House.

"I wonder if he’s gonna live with him at the White House too," a netizen commented.
"You can check out anytime you want, but you can never leave," another commented.
"Haha, seems like they're always together these days. What's next, a reality show?" one more on X wrote.

However, some users on X suggested that Trump's apparent affinity for Elon Musk may be primarily driven by the billionaire's wealth.

"Poor needy oligarch doesn’t realize Donald only loves him for his money. 💰💰💰," a user on X commented.
"How can they justify paying him as ceo of Tesla when he is so checked out," one more on X.
"He's enjoying his latest purchase," a third commented.

As of now, neither Elon Musk nor Donald Trump has publicly addressed or commented on the online reactions to Musk's recent appearance at Mar-a-Lago.

More about Elon Musk's Mar-a-Lago visit

On Wednesday, Elon Musk was photographed alongside President-elect Donald Trump and his inner circle at a gathering in Florida. In one image, Musk is seen sitting at a table with Trump, dressed in a semi-formal all-black ensemble that includes a black coat, pants, and a black t-shirt.

In another photo, Musk is seen in a more formal look, wearing a complete black suit paired with a white dress shirt and a black bow tie.

As reported by the Economic Times, Elon Musk had a heated confrontation with Donald Trump's indicted lawyer, Boris Epshteyn, during the event. The tension reportedly stemmed from Musk's $119 million contribution to Trump’s election campaign. Musk allegedly questioned Epshteyn about whether he had wielded undue influence over Trump’s appointments, particularly key selections for the Justice Department and White House counsel.

Additionally, Futurism reported that Musk accused Epshteyn of intentionally leaking potential appointments to the press. In response, Epshteyn reportedly denied any knowledge of the allegations, stating that he had no idea what Musk was referring to.

The NY Post further reported that Elon Musk specifically accused Epshteyn of influencing Donald Trump's decision to nominate Matt Gaetz for attorney general. However, a source from Trump's transition team denied claims of a heated conversation, stating that they are untrue. The source further emphasized that both Musk and Epshteyn are working together with full focus to assist Donald Trump.

"People familiar with both Elon and Boris unequivocally state that the whole story is complete and total nonsense, which Axios is known for, the two have been working together very well and are both focused on assisting President Trump in Making America Great Again," the source said.

Musk's presence alongside Trump is attributed to his role as co-head of the newly established Department of Government Efficiency, a position he shares with Vivek Ramaswamy.

Despite these claims and reports, neither President-elect Donald Trump nor Elon Musk have issued an official statement addressing the allegations.
