"I hope assault charges were pressed" — Internet reacts to an individual dousing Turning Point USA staff and equipment in tomato sauce at UC Berkeley
On Wednesday, October 23, Turning Point USA, or TPUSA, organized a tabling event at UC Berkeley with the organization staff Chloe Cole and Harrison Tinsley. What caught attention about the event was an individual throwing a bottle of tomato juice at the members and on the tables.
While someone came to intervene to prevent the property damage, the individual threw the juice at him as well. The individual could then be seen walking away while returning to the area and throwing the rest of the juice on the fliers and posters.
One of the staff, seemingly from Turning Point USA, explained to the individual that the organization had a valid permit to be there. The individual was then seen asking the staff why they were there, to which she responded saying:
"Because we've a right to be here."
As per reports by The College Fix on October 24, the individual is said to be a trans activist. In the clip, they could be heard saying:
"Are you worried I’m going to stain your f**king signs as you lie to people, aw so sorry..."
Ultimately, the individual stormed off the place after throwing the juice bottle. Meanwhile, a student was recorded saying:
"Behold the tolerant left!"
Netizens soon reacted to the video that Turning Point USA shared on their social media platforms
"I hope assault charges were pressed," said one netizen on X.
Another user wrote on X:
"Someone should have knocked the s**t outta that little fascist scumbag."
"We should go back to mocking these idiots for their stupidity," added another person.
"These same people who throw tantrums over open discussion are being expected to have the mental faculties to make life-changing choices," commented another user.
Many other netizens had the same point of view, where they bashed the individual for such a behavior. A user tweeted:
"And no one bothered to detain her and have her arrested. Why?"
"In California we can arrest on these actions for assault... Misdemeanor Crime. You have a year to file for arrest. Please set the example so they realize there are consequences for this behavior," wrote a netizen.
"Remember that these are the types of people studying to become the next judges, lawyers, doctors etc… we must not give up," added another netizen.
