Jamie Lee Curtis, Stephen King, John Cusack, and other Hollywood celebrities react to Trump's election win to become the 47th U.S. President
On Wednesday morning, the Associated Press declared Republican candidate Donald Trump's victory in the 2024 U.S. Presidential Elections. The announcement came after Wisconsin was called in his favor, earning him the 270 electoral votes needed.
He will serve his second term as the 47th President of the United States, and his running mate, JD Vance, will serve as the 50th Vice President of the United States.
Trump's opponent, Kamala Harris, formally conceded in a speech from Howard University in Washington, D.C. She thanked all those who supported her run and congratulated Trump. She explained that she wouldn't give up the "fight for freedom" but added that they would "engage in a peaceful transfer of power."

In the days leading up to the elections, several celebrities and A-listers publicly announced their support for either candidate. While Harrison Ford, Jennifer Aniston, Beyonce, and Arnold Schwarzenegger openly supported Kamala Harris, other celebrities like Kelsey Grammer, Hulk Hogan, Zachary Levi, and Joe Rogan spoke in favor of Donald Trump.
As news of the victory was announced, several celebrities took to their social media to share their reactions. Here are a few of them:
Jamie Lee Curtis
The Freaky Friday actress took to her Instagram to share her thoughts. In a post with a photo of the American flag, an eagle questioned what it would mean for everyone now that Trump was elected. She stated:
"It means a sure return to a more restrictive, some fear draconian time. Many fear their rights will be impeded and denied. Many, minority groups and young people will be afraid. Gay and trans people will be more afraid."
Curtis continued:
"We know that many women will now find it difficult to get the reproductive healthcare that they need and deserve. For all those people there will be those who will help you. Me included."
She added that despite the outcome not being one that many wanted, it was what democracy looked like. She concluded on a note to keep fighting.
Joe Rogan
Podcaster Joe Rogan, with whom the president-elect recently interviewed, took to his X to express his delight at the latter's victory, writing:
"WHOLE. LEE. S*IT."
Stephen King
Author Stephen King, who called out both Musk and Trump previously, took to his X to state:
"There's a sign you can see in many shops that sell beautiful but fragile items: LOVELY TO LOOK AT, DELIGHTFUL TO HOLD, BUT ONCE YOU BREAK IT, THEN IT'S SOLD. You can say the same about democracy."

The Tesla CEO expressed his joy at the Republican candidate's win in several posts on X. Soon after the announcement that he won, Musk tweeted:
"The future is gonna be fantastic."
John Cusack
Cusack, another critic of Trump, shared a dire post warning people:
"Well, if you want to know what it really looks like - Here it comes."
In a separate post, he criticized Harris' campaign for never choosing progressive reforms and teaming up with Bernie Sanders. He explained that she chose to speak in "poll-tested generalities" instated.
Jake Paul
Boxer and Internet personality, Jake Paul, celebrated Donald Trump's victory, calling it a "massive step in the right direction." He stated that "truth and god won," and urged everyone to unite for the better of the country.
Other notable reactions by celebrities
Singers, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, and Cardi B all expressed their disappointment at the results. Meanwhile, Shazam actor Zachary Levi celebrated Trump's win in several posts. In of the posts, he claimed President Joe Biden's victory in 2020 was rigged.
Susie Dent, the lexicographer and etymologist on Countdown, subtly expressed her thoughts in an X post, writing:
"Word of the day is ‘recrudescence’ (17th century): the return of something terrible after a time of reprieve."
British former TV host Piers Morgan took to his X to congratulate the Republican ticket for "the greatest comeback in political history." On the other hand, Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert both seemed dispirited during the opening monologues of their respective shows.
