“Never thought I’d see the day she denounced anything white” — Netizens react as Candace Owens questions the significance of Crayola’s white crayon
Candace Owens has once again made her way into the headlines after she tagged the crayon company, Crayola, in her X post, asking them the “point of the white crayon.” Owen shared in her tweet how her daughter came up to her and asked her the same question, as she said:
“My two year old daughter just came over to me with a white crayon and said “mommy it doesn’t work”. And I think it’s perfectly reasonable to ask @Crayola what exactly is the point of the white crayon?”
Her post garnered many responses from the masses, as Candace Owens often talks about color and race. As an Instagram user, @TheShadeRoom posted her tweet on the platform, a netizen reacted by saying:
“Never thought I'd see the day she denounced anything white.”
Others also commented by stating the same, as they recalled previous instances when Candace Owens had sided with the white values, and is known to have criticized the Black Lives Matter movement.
Candace Owens' controversies related to race and color, explored
While Candace Owens's recent remarks about a white crayon might have grabbed many eyeballs, it is worth noting that many netizens commented that it is rare for Owens to criticize anything white.
This is because, many times in the past, Candace Owens has been slammed for siding with the white culture, especially after she was seen wearing the “White Lives Matter” T-shirt, alongside Kanye West at the Paris Fashion Week in 2022.
Furthermore, Candace Owens once again brewed controversy in September when she sided with Janet Jackson’s claims about Kamala Harris, the current Vice President and a candidate in the upcoming Presidential elections not being brown or black, as she was born to a white father. Candace backed Janet Jackson’s comments and said in a tweet:
“Good for Janet. Kamala Harris is literally not black. Her dad is Indian but grew up in Jamaica. Kamala now avoids the question of her ethnicity altogether.”
Prior to this, she also went viral for explaining why she married a white man. In an interview on The Breakfast Club aired on March 21, 2024, Owens said:
“It’s always very interesting for me to hear this paradox of Black people who will argue that the system is racist, then make an argument like this… that Black Americans and white Americans shouldn’t be marrying. I think the greatest thing ever is when people come together on the basis of who they love and get married.”
Candace Owens continued:
“I married the person that it made the most sense for me to marry. It was difficult for me to find a partner that was a challenge to me… with my same interests… I fell in love with my husband just because I think he is one of the most brilliant people ever. I love him very much and the stuff that we talk about, there’s no other person I could have married.”
At the time, Janet Jackson had commented:
"She’s not Black. That’s what I heard. That she’s Indian. Her father’s white. That’s what I was told.”
While social media users continued to mock Candace Owens, and poured in hilarious comments, the political commentator has not yet responded to them.
At the moment, the crayon company, Crayola has also not addressed the post made by Candace Owens.
