"Pretty sure they were never invited"- Netizens react to viral tweet claiming Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga refused to perform at Trump's inauguration
An X page claimed on November 14 that Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga refused to perform at Donald Trump’s inauguration, which is scheduled to take place on January 20, 2025. This claim comes after the two singers have been vocal about their support for Vice President Kamala Harris. Netizens have since taken to social media to react to this.
X page @DonaldTNews tweeted, “BREAKING: Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga have refused to perform at Trump’s inauguration. What’s your reaction?” The tweet had amassed over 1.4 million views at the time of writing this article.
It is worth noting that the two singers have been vocal about their support for the Liberal presidential candidate, with Taylor Swift also taking to Instagram to endorse Harris. She said online:
“I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.”
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga took to the podium during Harris’ Pennsylvania rally on election eve to show support. She also said:
“For more of this country’s life, women didn’t have a voice. Yet we raised children, we held our families together, we supported men as they made the decisions.”
Several netizens took to X to respond to the tweet with several people wondering why the singers would have been invited to perform, while others expressed that they did not wish to see the duo at the inauguration. One netizen said:
Others expressed similar sentiments with comments reading:
“I don’t believe they were asked,” an X user said.
“Who would want these two Narcissistic Liberals performing at President Trump’s inauguration,” a netizen said.
Earlier this month, Lady Gaga’s father Joe Germanotta declared that he was endorsing Donald Trump. He said on Fox Business’ Cavuto: Coast to Coast that ever since he came out as a Republican, “it’s been a little dicey at home.” Meanwhile, other reactions read:
“That’s great. No one wants them. I hear Kamala has free time in her schedule for them,” a platform user said.
“Would have been gravely disappointed if they did perform,” a netizen said.
“Were they at least invited? I guess not,” an X user said.
To be vice president, JD Vance has been a vocal critic of Taylor Swift, with him also calling her a “childless cat lady.” Meanwhile, other comments read:
“Good. We definitely didn’t even want them there to begin with. They are on the side of Satan. Trump is on the side of God. No room for mingling with evil,” an X user said.
“They don’t deserve the honor to perform there,” a netizen said.
“She’ll probably pay a price for it”- Donald Trump warned Taylor Swift of supporting Kamala Harris
While appearing on Fox & Friends in September, Donald Trump admitted to not being a fan of Taylor Swift and expressed disdain over her supporting the Democratic candidate. He said on the show:
“I was not a Taylor Swift fan. It was just a question of time. She couldn’t possibly endorse Biden… But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse Biden… But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”
He went on to admit to liking Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, over Swift. He said:
“I like Brittany. I think Brittany’s great. Brittany got a lot of news last week, she’s a big MAGA fan, that’s the one I like more better than Taylor Swift.”
While endorsing Kamala Harris, Taylor Swift called out Trump for sharing deepfake images of her endorsing his campaign. Swift condemned the use of AI-generated content in her social media post and went on to urge voters to do their research before making their decision to vote.
Now, people await November 26 as Donald Trump is set to face his hush money trial, which came into being after he faced criminal charges for allegedly attempting to cover up payments made to adult entertainer Stormy Daniels.
