"She treated me like a servant"— Celebrity hairstylist criticizes Anne Hathaway, claims working for her was one of his "worst experiences"
Celebrity hairstylist Emmanuel Miller has seemingly criticized Anne Hathaway for being one of the “worst” clients he had worked with. Emmanuel Miller appeared on the What It Was Like podcast recently. His account of working with Anne Hathaway was shared on the podcast’s TikTok page. While calling it one of his “worst experiences,” Miller said:
“I did a film with Anne Hathaway and that was one of my worst experiences. Anne never acknowledged me as a person for four and a half months. She treated me like a servant.”
Emmanuel Miller's statements come after Hathaway apologized to an interviewer for her seemingly awkward behavior. Hathaway had not responded to Miller’s allegations at the time of writing this article.
Miller also said on the podcast that he had worked with celebrities like Johnny Depp, Tom Hanks, and Cate Blanchett, but none behaved like Hathaway.
Hairstylist Emmanuel Miller says Anne Hathaway did not ask him about his personal life
Emmanuel Miller said he worked with Anne Hathaway in Los Angeles, and his daughter was the latter’s “stand-in.” However, he said that the Love & Other Drugs actress did not ask him about what life was like at home.
“And I was doing her hair personally, just one on one. I was just doing her hair. She never said, ‘Your daughter, do you have any other children?’ or ‘How long have you been married?’ There was never any personal conversation.”
The podcast clip was quick to go viral across social media platforms. It was also posted on the popular subreddit r/Fauxmoi on October 24, where it garnered over 3000 upvotes and more than 1000 comments.
This comes amid Norwegian journalist Kjersti Flaa going viral after sharing details about her 2012 interview with the actress. She claimed that the now 41-year-old actress shot down her pitch of responding to her questions while singing as the actress was promoting her film Les Misérables. In a video Flaa posted online, Hathaway was heard saying:
“Well, I won’t be doing that, but you’re more than welcome to sing.”
It seems like Hathaway caught wind of the interview clip going viral online, with many seemingly criticizing her for her behavior. Flaa then took to YouTube to reveal that the Oscar-winning actress had contacted her through her representatives to apologize for her behavior.
“Yesterday I did receive an email. It was from Anne Hathaway’s publicist, and he forwarded a message to me from Anne Hathaway. I have to say, I was pretty shocked. I had not expected her to reach out to me at all… She sent me a long email explaining to me what she was going through right then when she did this interview, and she apologized for being.. for giving me an awful interview, basically,” Flaa said.
Flaa did not share the details of the email, as Hathaway had sent her “a very personal note.” She also revealed that the actress invited her to interview her in 2025 for her upcoming movie releases.
Anne Hathaway has been making headlines after fellow actress Blake Lively garnered backlash for her behavior with the press.
