"Still voting like a white man, I see" — Singer Jack Freeman reacts to Caitlyn Jenner marking Trump on her ballot paper
Media personality and former decathlon champion Caitlyn Jenner revealed that she voted for Republican candidate Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. On November 3, Caitlyn Jenner uploaded a picture of her ballot paper voting for Trump on X, urging people to vote no matter "how blue" their state might seem.
She added that many Trump supporters were in California, where she voted. California has been known to be a blue state since 1992, with more Democratic support during elections.
Jenner's tweet announcing her vote for Trump received over 53 million views at the time of this article and was met with mixed responses on the social media platform. On November 5, singer/songwriter Jack Freeman criticized the media personality for supporting Trump, posting:
"Still voting like a white man, I see."
Caitlyn Jenner condemned Trump for "relentlessly attacking" the trans community
While Caitlyn Jenner has been vocal about her support for Trump in the 2024 elections, she did not always share the same opinions about the former president during the previous elections. In 2016, she backed Trump for president. However, in an op-ed to the Washington Post in 2018, she criticized the former president for attacking the trans community.
Caitlyn Jenner, who transitioned in 2015, wrote that she met Trump's government in good faith to work with them to bring a positive change in the LGBTQ community. However, she said she was wrong about her belief that Trump would help the trans community.
"The reality is that the trans community is being relentlessly attacked by this president. The leader of our nation has shown no regard for an already marginalized and struggling community. He has ignored our humanity. He has insulted our dignity," she said.
"He has made trans people into political pawns as he whips up animus against us in an attempt to energize the most right-wing segment of his party, claiming his anti-transgender policies are meant to 'protect the country.' This is politics at its worst. It is unacceptable, it is upsetting, and it has deeply, personally hurt me."
Caitlyn Jenner wrote that she did not support Trump, adding her hope in him was "misplaced." During a 2021 interview with CNN, she claimed she did not vote during the 2020 election. According to a campaign official, Jenner sent a mail-in ballot voting on ballot propositions and not for either presidential candidate.
However, Caitlyn Jenner seemingly changed her mind about Trump during the 2024 elections, supporting and advocating for him on social media. In a November 2023 post, Jenner claimed Trump was the "only candidate" who could combat social issues to "appeal to ALL AMERICANS."
In an Instagram post on June 1, 2024, she declared she would stand with the former president forever. On November 3, she posted a clip of her interview on Fox News talking about banning trans athletes in women's sports, writing:
"TRUMP: BAN MEN FROM WOMEN’S SPORTS! I agree 100% w/ @realdonaldtrump Kamala supports men and boys in sports with women and girls. It’s not safe and it’s not fair. It’s anti-woman!"
In another post, Caitlyn Jenner claimed that Trump's loss would be the end of the US.
The presidential election is on November 5. The winner will be announced after all the votes are counted; however, the exact date is unclear.
