"That's how a President of the United States should be" — Internet reacts to Kamala Harris explaining why she lets Trump call her Border Czar

On October 15, 2024, Kamala Harris participated in an audio town hall with Charlamagne Tha God. The American radio host asked Harris why she allowed Donald Trump to call her the border czar when that wasn't her role.

Charlamagne referred to Trump's first television advertisement wherein several pictures of Harris were showcased with the narrator stating:

“This is America’s border czar, and she’s failed us.”

Responding to Charlamagne Tha God's question, Kamala Harris said that if she responded to every name Trump called her, she wouldn't be focused on the "things that actually help the American people." And that's her focus.

The clip of Charlamagne and Harris' interaction went viral on social media platforms, and internet users took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their views. Appreciating Harris' response, one X user shared:

"That's how a President of the United States should be. 💙"
"Man, she really nailed this interview," another X user said.
"Translation: Trump is the candidate with a 4 year old mentality. I’m an adult," another X user commented.
"One candidate creates nicknames, the other presents policies that benefit America," one netizen said.

On the other hand, some internet users sided with Trump calling Harris a border czar:

"She was in charge of it, and she failed. Next?" one X user said.
"Oh, Kamala, focusing on things that help the American people? 🙄 Is that what you’re doing while the border crisis spirals out of control? Funny how you’re too busy to respond to names, but also too busy to actually fix the problems at the border. If ignoring reality counts as "focus," then congratulations, you’ve mastered it!" another X user said.

"One of the biggest challenges that I face is mis- and disinformation"- Kamala Harris mentions in the interview with Charlamagne Tha God

In addition to talking about the title that Donald Trump gave her, Kamala Harris also addressed criticism about being very scripted in her interviews, with Charlamagne Tha God.

She said that she was disciplined and wanted to reclaim the narrative about her record mentioning that her political rivals had twisted the work that she did on behalf of the Black community. Addressing misinformation-oriented claims about her work, Harris said:

“One of the biggest challenges that I face is mis- and disinformation. It is meant to convince people that they somehow should not believe that the work that I have done has occurred, and has meaning.”

The vice president stated that part of the challenge she faces is that her political rivals are trying to scare people away because they are aware that they have nothing to run on. She also said that Trump must be asked about his plan for the Black community.

Further into the interview, Kamala Harris talked about her plans for Black Americans like tax breaks for small business start-ups, offering forgivable loans to entrepreneurs, giving down-payment assistance to first-time homeowners, and tax credits for low and middle-income families.

During her interview with Charlamagne Tha God, Kamala Harris said that Donald Trump was a threat to democracy and when the radio host questioned if Trump's vision for the country could be called "fascism," she agreed to it.
