"They are making fun of us" — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez lashes out at Trump serving fries at McDonald's
In a recent statement that has sparked widespread conversation, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez voiced her concerns regarding former President Donald Trump’s visit to a McDonald’s drive-thru, where he was seen serving fries to customers.
On October 21, 2024, during her speech alongside United Auto Workers President Shawn Fain, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez suggested that the former President, along with his team, are not genuinely trying to understand or relate to the experiences and struggles of everyday people.
"They're not trying to empathize with us. They are making fun of us," the Congresswoman said about the former President's recent stop at McDonald’s.
The former President visited the McDonald's franchise in Feasterville, Pennsylvania, for a campaign event on Sunday, October 20. During his visit, he briefly hosted as a worker and served French fries to the customers.

While delivering a speech alongside United Auto Workers President Shawn Fain in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez criticized the former President, suggesting that he views McDonald’s workers as a "joke."
"Donald Trump thinks that people who work at McDonald’s are a joke. They have absolutely no idea what our lives are like. And they think that this callousness is a way of connecting. It is not a way of connecting because you and I both know that when that camera turns off and they turn around and go into their car, they are laughing at us," AOC said.
She also commented on the former President’s attire during the stop and remarked, "Halloween has come early." She suggested that the former President, having never faced real hardship, cannot genuinely relate to the struggles of the working class.
"Donald Trump is running around. He put on his little McDonald’s costume. Halloween came early for Donald Trump, because we know that man has never worked a day in his life. We know that man has never punched a clock in his life," AOC said.
This is not the first time Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has talked about the former President and publically criticized him. In August 2024, during a speech at the Democratic National Convention, AOC accused the former President of prioritizing personal financial gain over the country's well-being.
"Because we know that Donald Trump would sell this country for a dollar if it meant lining his own pockets and greasing the palms of his Wall Street friends," AOC said.
Moreover, addressing the crowd in Chicago, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez publicly endorsed Kamala Harris and suggested that the people of the United States should elect her in the presidential elections.
"America, when we knock on our neighbor’s door, organize our communities and elect Kamala Harris to the presidency on 5 November," AOC stated.
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s remarks came in response to the former President's visit to a McDonald's franchise in Feasterville, Pennsylvania. During the visit, Trump, dressed in his signature blue suit and white tie, donned an apron and briefly served customers. The visit quickly went viral, with videos showing the former President serving French fries, packaged meals, and interacting with patrons.
At the start of his visit, the former President humorously remarked that he was "looking for a job" at McDonald's before serving customers at the fast-food chain. He also told one patron he was "having fun" while participating in the activity.
Trump's appearance at the McDonald's franchise comes ahead of the upcoming presidential election, scheduled for Tuesday, November 5, 2024. As of now, he has not publicly responded to Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s recent criticisms.
