What is the Ambamelia Greek Flag TikTok drama? Millennial creator comes under fire over restaurant fracas

TikTok user Ambamelia took to the video-sharing platform recently to reveal to followers that she mistook the Greek flag for Israel’s. In the video that has circulated across social networking sites, the woman can be seen expressing outrage over a restaurant supposedly extending support to Israel. This comes in the midst of the Palestine and Israel conflict. Since the video has gone viral, netizens have taken to social media to put the woman on blast.

In Ambamelia’s video, she revealed that she “mistakenly thought the flag for Freek [sic] was for Israel and took the restaurant’s flag down.” The woman was referring to the Greek flag that waved outside Efi’s Gyro in Montclair, New Jersey.

In the video, which has amassed multimillion views online, the woman can be heard saying as she ripped down the Greek flag:

“Look at that sh*t! Free Palestine b***h! What you looking at? You know there’s a genocide? I don’t stand for Zionism in Montclair.”

Two staff members of the restaurant then came outside to respond to Ambamelia. While looking confused at the hater, they clarified that the flag was that of Greece and not Israel. Ambamelia then said:

“What? Really? Oh, I thought it was Israel’s- my bad. Oh s**t… it looked like Israel.”

Since the incident, the restaurant reportedly does not hang any flags outside the establishment.

Netizens have since taken to social media to respond to the bizarre incident. Some comments online read:

“She owes them new flags and an apology,” an X user said.
“Way too many people think it’s ok to destroy someone else’s property,” another platform user said.
“I hope they sue her stupid a*s,” another internet user said.

Evidently, many were displeased by the incident and relentlessly attacked the TikTok user online. Other comments online read:

“Her desire for her 20 seconds of fame kinda backfired on the ignorant woman. Instead of famous, she’s infamous. Someone should explain the difference to her,” an X user said.
“Hope her a*s arrested,” another internet user said.
“What a moron,” a platform user commented.

Restaurant owner Efi Mihalis clarified with The Post that although the video of the incident is going viral, it actually occurred on March 11. It remains unclear as to why the video has been posted now.

Meanwhile, other reactions read:

“Just goes to show how well informed these fools are,” an X user said.
“I hope she was arrested,” another netizen said.

Restaurant owner shares statement with The Post after Ambamelia’s TikTok video goes viral

The restaurant owner revealed to The Post that she had reported the incident to the police at that time. However, what happened further remained unclear at the time of writing this article. Addressing the same, she added:

“It was not a skit as some people believe. This was not planned nor was it calculated in any way. The young woman destroyed my property.”

She went on to add that she and others at the venue were “taken aback” by what happened.

Similar incidents have been taking place across the States since Hamas’ October 2023 attack on Israel.
