What happened at Donald Trump’s Coachella rally? Armed man, Vem Miller, arrested over alleged third assassination attempt

Law enforcement arrested suspect Vem Miller after he was spotted armed outside a Donald Trump Coachella Valley rally on Saturday, October 12. This is seemingly the third assassination attempt on the presidential candidate. The 49-year-old was caught after being spotted with a phony press pass and firearms.

The Post revealed that the suspect was caught at a police checkpoint. Local police noticed that his car was unregistered, and when the vehicle was searched, they reportedly found a series of fake passports, driving licenses, a loaded handgun, a shotgun, and a high-capacity magazine.

Vem Miller is now facing weapon charges. He was released from custody after posting a $5,000 bail.

He is a registered Republican with a master’s degree from UCLA. In 2022, he ran for the Nevada State Assembly, as per the Press Enterprise. Miller is the owner of a CBD company based out of California.

The Post reported that he is a member of an anti-government far-right organization and has frequently participated in posting conspiracy theories and misogynistic rhetoric on social media. The Secret Service confirmed that Donald Trump was not at risk during the rally.

Local police and federal agencies disagree about the gravity of the Donald Trump assassination attempt

Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco stated in a press statement that local police truly believed that they managed to escape “another assassination attempt.” He went on to call Miller a “lunatic.” He said:

“What his frame of mind was, all we can do is speculate. If you’re asking me right now, I probably did have deputies that prevented the third assassination attempt.

However, the US Secret Service, the FBI, and the Justice Department released a statement together announcing that Donald Trump was in no danger. They said:

“While no federal arrest has been made at this time, the investigation is ongoing. The US Attorney’s Office, US Secret Service, and FBI extend their gratitude to the deputies and local partners who helped ensure the safety of last night’s events.”

Meanwhile, CNN also reported that two federal officials stated that there was no evidence suggesting that there would be an assassination attempt to harm Trump.

The Post also reported that Vem Miller asked for a lawyer following his arrest after the FBI attempted to interview him. He also reportedly told certain reporters that claims of him attempting to attack Trump were “complete bullsh*t.”

In July, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire at the former POTUS during his Butler, Pennsylvania rally. Trump was struck in the ear by a bullet, with another bystander killed and two others wounded. Crooks was gunned down by the Secret Service moments after he fired his weapon.

Trump was yet again put in danger after would-be gunman Ryan Routh was caught with an assault rifle hiding at Trump’s West Palm Beach Golf Club. The presidential candidate was reportedly just 300 yards away from the suspect. Routh was apprehended on the highway as he attempted to flee.
