What happened between Marlon Wayans and DJ Vlad? Comedian says he is a "peaceful dude" and accepts podcaster's apology
Marlon Wayans and DJ Vlad had been engaged in a feud since August 2024, after Vlad revealed something about Wayans' fees on an episode of The Black Russian Podcast aired on August 10. Since then, the two had gone back and forth at each other on social media.
DJ Vlad, however, ended up apologizing for his behavior while talking to DJ Akademiks during an interview. He said:
"Honestly, at the end of the day, it was just a business negotiation. I could’ve kept it to myself. I overdid it... My bad Marlon, I apologize […] It’s all good."
On Monday, Marlon Wayans appeared on The Breakfast Club, where he spoke about the beef. According to Wayans, he wasn't ever made on Vlad, and thus, accepted his apology as well. Wayans went on saying:
"I ain't got no beef with that man. You know what I'm saying? But just, put some respect on my name, bro. Like don't, don't come at me like that. I'm a peaceful dude. And if you looked at the text that me and him—the correspondence, you'd be like, 'Yo, Marlon was a classy dude all the way through.'"
Marlon added that the primary issue began when Vlad allegedly began talking about the former's interview prices to others. According to Marlon, that was when he felt "disrespected."
DJ Vlad has previously apologized to Marlon Wayans and admitted to his unprofessional behavior
As mentioned before, Marlon Wayans and DJ Vlad had been beefing since quite some time now after some remarks that the latter made. Since then both have attacked each other on social media platforms. In August, before Vlad apologized to Wayans, he responded stating that he didn't like Vlad's looks.
Vlad then took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and shared a post, as reported by Vibe. In the tweet, he wrote:
"Marlon Wayans, I’m sorry that you don’t find me attractive. Fortunately for both of us, I’m heterosexual... Coming out as gay in 2024 will surely revive your declining acting career."
This tweet then prompted Wayans to post a response to Vlad's post. In the tweet dated August 18, he wrote:
"See @djvlad this is the moment you’ve been begging for i asked you to LEAVE ME ALONE. Let it go. But you want to kick a bee’s nest. You can’t compete with me bro, I AM LEGEND..."
In another tweet, Wayans wrote that DJ Vlad was quite hated by the urban community. In the recent podcast, Wayans recalled a time when Vlad accused him of telling him "f*ck you" on text messages, and then tried to reduce the interview fee to $5,000.
Elsewhere in the Monday podcast episode, Marlon Wayans revealed that he disliked it when DJ Vlad discussed Wayans' asking price with fellow Black comedian Aries Spears.
While Wayans took these digs against the podcaster, he recently mentioned that he was never angry on Vlad for his remarks, however, felt disrespected. As for now, Wayans further stated that he has moved on from the situation.
