What did Rachel Zegler say about Trump? Election post controversy explained as Snow White star issues apology
Snow White actress Rachel Zegler has apologized for her recent rant on social media in which she attacked President-elect Donald Trump and his followers. Expressing regret for her remarks, she wrote on her Instagram story on November 14:
"I would like to sincerely apologize for the election post I shared on my Instagram last week. I let my emotions get the best of me. Hatred and anger have caused us to move further and further away from peace and understanding, and I am sorry I contributed to the negative discourse."
This happened after the actress shared her reaction on social media following Trump's victory in the 2024 presidential election. Zegler took to Instagram stories to talk against Trump and his followers, saying that she was disgusted that the nation had chosen him over Kamala Harris.
Zegler had said:
"I find myself speechless in the midst of this. Another four years of hatred, leaning us towards a world I do not want to live in. Leaning us towards a world that will be hard to raise my daughter in. Leaning us towards a world that will force her to have a baby she doesn't want. Leaning us towards a world that is fearful."
Rachel Zegler received backlash since her comments on Donald Trump
After verbally attacking Donald Trump and his fans, West Side Story actress Rachel Zegler has issued an apology. On November 14, in an Instagram story, she claimed to have let her emotions control her. She continued:
“This week has been emotional for so many of us, but I firmly believe that everyone has the right to their opinion, even when it differs from my own. I am committed to contributing positively towards a better tomorrow.”
The apology followed last week's lengthy Instagram post by the 23-year-old about Trump's reelection and the "four years of hatred".
Rachel Zegler had gone on to discuss a "deep, deep sickness" in the US and expressed fear at the sheer number of individuals who continue to endorse Trump and "threaten our democracy." The Snow White star also wrote:
"It is terrifying the number of people who stand behind what this man preaches… It is a foolish subscription to a false sense of security, of masculinity, of intelligence, of patriotism, and of humanity. There is no help, no counsel, in any of them. I could go on. I won’t. I feel sad. You probably do, too. F*ck this… May Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself never know peace.”
She also added, "F*ck Donald Trump," and urged her followers to stop using X, the social media site that billionaire Elon Musk owns as Musk also endorsed Trump.
However, Rachel Zegler's remarks sparked immediate criticism and conjecture that they would jeopardize Disney's 2025 release of Snow White. After receiving criticism from conservative online communities, Zegler issued a fresh statement, stating that she wished to "sincerely apologize" for the remarks.
The actress uploaded the apology post just after Megyn Kelly, a former Fox News host, bashed her and called for her to be removed from Disney's next live-action Snow White remake due to her anti-Trump outburst. In a recent November 14 broadcast of her SiriusXM radio program, Kelly stated:
“There’s something wrong with this person… Hello, Disney! You’re gonna have to redo your film again because this woman is a pig… You’re going to put out a Disney film with Snow White, a beloved American character, with a woman who hates more than half the country, the half that just elected Donald Trump? This is an incredible pivot point right now..”
Meanwhile, since the apology, Rachel Zegler hasn't said anything as of yet.
