What’s the new Miss Universe 2024 crown called? All you need to know
The Miss Universe 2024 pageant has introduced the Lumière de l’Infini Crown, a stunning creation crafted by French-Filipino jewelry brand Jewelmer. Translating to "Light of Infinity," this piece celebrates the universal elements of life and the empowerment of women. The crown, adorned with South Sea pearls and diamonds, was unveiled in Mexico during the 73rd Miss Universe pageant.
Designed by Filipino artisans, the crown symbolizes unity, harmony, and the infinite beauty of nature. It is the first Miss Universe crown crafted in the Philippines, marking a historic collaboration between Jewelmer and the Miss Universe Organization (MUO).
Lumière de l’Infini Crown, the Miss Universe 2024 crown inspired by nature
Jewelmer explained in their official statement that the crown is a "majestic homage to life and its universal elements." The Miss Universe 2024 crown features diamond-adorned rays representing sunlight and warmth, tendrils of diamonds and gold symbolizing seafoam meeting the shore and the air blowing over waves, and golden South Sea pearls embodying the Earth’s beauty and connection to life.
Each pearl in the crown is a rare creation, taking 377 steps and over five years to cultivate in pristine environments. These pearls are recognized as the National Gem of the Philippines, reflecting Jewelmer’s commitment to sustainability and harmony with nature.
The Miss Universe 2024 crown’s grand unveiling was attended by notable figures, including Sheynnis Palacios, Miss Universe 2023, and Anne Jakrajutatip, the executive director of JKN Global Group, which owns the pageant. Raul Rocha, president of Miss Universe, also graced the event.
Palacios passed the crown to Denmark's Victoria Kjær Theilvig, who made history as Denmark's first Miss Universe winner.
Victoria, a 21-year-old entrepreneur and dancer, impressed judges with her eloquence and poise, ultimately securing her the crown. Maria Fernanda Beltran from Mexico was the first runner-up, while Cnidimma Adetshina from Nigeria claimed the second runner-up spot.
Victoria had previously gained international attention for her resemblance to a "Human Barbie" and her success in other beauty pageants, including a top 20 finish at Miss Grand International 2022.
The Lumière de l’Infini Crown replaces the "Force for Good Crown," introduced in 2022 and crafted by Lebanese jeweler Mouawad. Over the years, the Miss Universe crowns have undergone significant transformations, reflecting evolving themes and artistic influences. Since the pageant’s inception in 1952, there have been eight crown designs in the 21st century alone.
The Miss Universe 2024 crown sets a new standard, incorporating sustainable practices and traditional Filipino craftsmanship, showcasing the Philippines’ global influence in the jewelry industry.
Jewelmer’s headquarters in the Philippines brings together artisans who utilize techniques perfected in Paris' Place Vendôme. The company shared on social media, "As long as there is a pearl, there is life shining through every moment."
According to Jewelmer, the meticulous process of cultivating South Sea pearls aligns with Jewelmer’s ethos of coexistence with nature, ensuring each pearl reflects the sun's light and the sea's purity.
The Miss Universe 2024 grand finale occurred on November 16, 2024, at Arena Ciudad de México in Mexico City. Hosted by Olivia Culpo and Mario Lopez, the show saw contestants from around the world competing for the prestigious title.
While Miss Universe gets to wear the Lumière de l’Infini Crown at official events, the crown remains the property of the MUO. However, winners receive a replica to commemorate their reign.
