What did Tim Walz say about Elon Musk at Wisconsin rally? Elon Musk unleashes a tirade of late night tweets against VP contender
On October 22, Elon Musk took to X to volley a tirade of late-night tweets targeting Minnesota governor and Kamala Harris's running mate, Tim Walz. This came as a response to Walz's speech at a campaign rally in Wisconsin earlier that evening when he disparaged Musk and his unwavering support for Republican candidate Donald Trump.
Walz referred to Elon Musk as Trump's "running mate," claiming he saw the SpaceX founder at Trump's rallies more than JD Vance, Trump's actual running mate. He also mocked Musk for the viral video of him jumping at Trump's rally in Butler, calling him a "dips**t."
"I’m gonna talk about his running mate... His running mate, Elon Musk. So look, Elon's on that stage, jumping around, skipping like a dips**t."
As a clip of Walz's speech about Musk went viral on X, the tech billionaire fired back with a series of tweets insulting the Minnesota governor. He claimed that Walz and Harris were going to lose the election, adding:
"You’re gonna lose, @Tim_Walz. Saving the American people from the torture of hearing you speak for 4 years was worth it."
In a follow-up post, Musk likened the Democrat to the clown emoji. Many assumed this was a jab at the Democratic VP candidate for his comments about Trump's stint as a fry attendant at McDonald's. Walz had said the former president looked "much more like Ronald McDonald than the clown that he actually is.”
Tim Walz accused Elon Musk of trying to "buy an election"
During his speech at the rally in Wisconsin, Tim Walz spoke about Elon Musk's $72 million donation towards the Trump campaign called America PAC. He accused Musk of attempting to buy the election for the former president with his wealth.
Walz also brought up Trump's offer that he might give Elon Musk a position in his cabinet if he became president, adding that Trump was "promising corruption." The former president later rescinded the claim as it might result in a conflict of interest.
"That guy is literally the richest man in the world, spending millions of dollars to help Donald Trump buy an election. They're saying the quiet parts out loud now cause Donald Trump has already promised that he would put Elon in charge of government regulations that oversee the businesses that Elon runs. That's a hell of a buy. He could spend billions to make more than ten billion on the backend," Walz said.
Elon Musk also responded to Walz's claim that he was using his money to "buy an election" on social media. The billionaire alleged that the Democratic Party "greatly outspent" the Republican campaign by gaining support from Hollywood celebrities, popular media publications, and campaign rallies.
Elon Musk is one of Donald Trump's wealthiest donors in the 2024 election campaign. The Tesla co-founder recently promised to give $1 million to voters who signed a petition supporting the First and Second Amendment rights. In a Pennsylvania rally on October 19, Musk said the prize winners will be randomly chosen.
“We want to try to get over a million, maybe 2 million voters in the battleground states to sign the petition in support of the First and Second Amendment. We are going to be awarding $1 million randomly to people who have signed the petition, every day, from now until the election,” Musk said.
However, this move earned scrutiny among many who argued that the plan seemed like a ploy to buy votes. According to CNN, the Justice Department warned Elon Musk that the plan might violate federal laws.
In other news, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris accused Trump of being a fascist during her town hall meeting in Pennsylvania on October 23. Meanwhile, Trump called Harris "crazy" during his rally in Duluth, Georgia, that same day. The two candidates have 11 days to secure votes before the election on November 5.
