Who was Bethany Joy Lenz married to? One Tree Hill star opens up on wild schedule during her days in a cult
Actress and singer Bethany Joy Lenz appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast on October 16 and gave insights into her marriage with an individual whom she referred to as QB. According to Lenz, QB was the son of a cult leader.
While Lenz got married to musician Michael Galeotti in 2005, it is unclear if she was referring to him in the podcast. In 2011, the former couple welcomed their daughter. A year after that, Lenz made the announcement of divorcing Galeotii.
As for her current statements on the podcast, she revealed being a part of "The Big House Family Cult," which she described as a "high-control group." According to Bethany Joy Lenz, while her relationship with her ex started off quite easy, they didn't have anything in common. Lenz told host Alex Cooper,
"There wasn't a lot of intellectual stimulation. But I had kinda run out of options. Like, I couldn't date a non-Christian and I couldn't really date anybody outside of the group… So it just became this sort of arranged situation."
Lenz further opened up about her s*x life back in the time when she was married to QB. She revealed that she was not at all satisfied, but still wanted to save the marriage. She explained that the problem began with the decision to make a "s*x schedule" which they thought would increase intimacy. She added:
"Because I was so disinterested in s*x, I was then asked to go on a schedule... It was a routine that I had to participate in in order to keep the peace in my marriage."
The actress also gave insights about how she "hated" being intimate with her then-partner.
Bethany Joy Lenz also revealed the marriage's impact on her career
Apart from revealing her wild personal life schedule, Bethany Joy Lenz also talked about how her career was affected due to her marriage in a strict Christian cult group. She stated that the group didn't let her take up certain roles, even when they were part of a massive studio movie. She added:
"Everything about my career started to then funnel through the group because I didn't trust my own instinct to know if I was on the right path or taking the right job."
According to Bethany Joy Lenz, she got a chance to play the role of Belle in the Broadway version of Beauty and The Beast. However, she had to give that up after being advised by Les, who was a pastor in the cult.
This was, however, not the first time that the actress was talking about being in a cult. Last year in August, after making an appearance on Drama Queens, she mentioned being a part of it for about ten years.
Recently, she also had an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, where she again spoke about being in the cult. She mentioned how her entire life, career, and even finances were controlled by the cult members. She has detailed her experience in her memoir Dinner for Vampires Life on a Cult TV Show (While also in an Actual Cult!), which is set to launch on October 22.
She reportedly met the cult pastor at the age of 20 in LA, after joining a Bible study. She revealed that while she later realized that she was becoming a part of a cult, she didn't know that she could come out of it. Bethany Joy Lenz believed that the experiences she shared in the memoir might be helpful to others who were in similar situations.
