Who did Chanel Maya Banks play in Gossip Girl? Actress found after going missing in LA

Actress Chanel Maya Banks, who went missing on October 30, 2024, was recently found safe by the police in Texas on Monday, November 11. She is mostly known for her appearance as Sawyer Bennett in the third season of the popular TV series, Gossip Girl.

A police department spokesperson, Charles Miller, shared a statement saying that a team from another agency was able to locate Chanel, who has been an LA resident for a long time.

Miller mentioned the reasons behind the announcement not being made on time, saying there was a delay in coordination between the agencies. Part of Miller's statement read:

"She is fine. No danger. She is OK. She has been taken out of the missing person system for us and we have closed our investigation."

Apart from Gossip Girl, Chanel has other projects in her credits, including Blue Bloods and Twelve.

Los Angeles Police Department searched Chanel Maya Banks' apartment at the beginning

While the cops began searching for Chanel Maya Banks earlier this month, her phone and laptop were missing from her apartment. In an interview with Eyewitness News, Chanel's cousin Danielle-Tori Singh claimed that there was no contact with her for around five days. The latter even distributed flyers to find Chanel as soon as possible.

As the investigation continued, the police officers went to a house in Texas after receiving a tip. According to ABC7, they met a woman who identified herself as Chanel.

However, Chanel's family said that the woman was not who she was claiming to be as soon as they saw the body camera footage.

After police officers failed to find Chanel at her apartment, Danielle stated that Chanel never goes anywhere without her dog.

Notably, her car was also missing from the garage when Danielle and her aunt managed to enter the apartment on November 10, 2024.

"She doesn't go more than 48 hours without speaking to me or her mom… That girl is more like a big sister to me."

As soon as Chanel Maya Banks went missing, a GoFundMe page was launched by Danielle-Tori Singh, which is currently unavailable.

According to Deadline, the page was started as Danielle and her family arrived from Toronto to cooperate with the authorities and they needed money to pay for food, accommodation, and other things.

Danielle also told ABC7 that Chanel's husband was not willing to help the authorities and reportedly began removing the flyers from all the spots.

On the GoFundMe page, Danielle also revealed Chanel's husband's response while he was questioned on her whereabouts.

"We asked him where is Chanel, and all he continues to say is 'She does not want to be found, she will reach out when she's ready'", Danielle said.

Chanel Maya Banks has posted a statement on her Instagram page

Shortly after being found by the authorities, Chanel Maya Banks shared a lengthy statement through her Instagram Story on November 14, 2024, and it reads:

"I have been silently carrying the pain of the ritual s*xual abuse, manipulation, and outright endless torment I've endured continuously since I was a defenseless baby, at the hands of my own so called family, whom are all so very "concerned" about my current whereabouts."

Chanel claimed that she is free from her family, adding that she was planning to get baptized by Pastor Robert Clancy and approached her husband about the same a few days ago.

She mentioned that while her husband dropped her at the airport, she considered it an opportunity to get her freedom.

"God said: I'm going to give you some money and I was shocked when it appeared just like He said! Then He said: I want you to move. So I made my Exodus and took my Freedom Ride first class (on Spirit air no less) to the Promise Land."
