Who is Cliff Schecter? Author seemingly threatens to publish John McCain's opinion about Meghan McCain after her Kamala Harris tweet

Cliff Schecter has seemingly threatened to publish former US Senator John McCain's candid opinion of his daughter Meghan McCain in a tweet posted on Sunday, October 13. Schecter wrote the post on X days after Meghan McCain suggested she might leak her father's take on the United States Vice President Kamala Harris.

Cliff Schecter is a pundit, best-selling author, public relations strategist, and a nationally syndicated columnist from the United States. In addition, he is the co-founder of Washington DC's independent radio station, We Act Radio, and the founder/President of Libertas LLC, a public relations firm.

Taking to X on October 13, Schecter referred to Meghan McCain as "nepo" and wrote:

"I wrote a book about your dad in '08, as I'm sure you know, Meghan. So go ahead and do it, nepo. Then I'll share what your father's advisors & others close to him told me he really thought about you. Things I had no reason to publish except to be cruel, but will happily share now in light of what you've become. You go first."

What prompted Cliff Schecter to seemingly target Meghan McCain?

Cliff Schecter's tweet came in response to Meghan McCain's criticism of the Democrats. She called out Kamala Harris over her comments on John McCain at a Republicans for Harris event on Friday, October 11. She wrote:

"Now, I know democrats want to reinvent history and turn my Dad into any illusion you guys need him to be depending on the political moment you need to bastardize his memory for… But please don’t make me start sharing what I remember him ACTUALLY saying about Kamala Harris."

She concluded,

"And consider this my final warning shot, I will start spilling tea," added Meghan McCain.

A day later, Meghan addressed the backlash she was facing on X. Pointing out the fact that she was John McCain's daughter and knew more than others, she referred to the Democrats as "lunatics."

Meghan McCain slammed the Democrats after Kamala Harris recalled a past anecdote concerning McCain's father. On Friday (October 11), Kamala Harris addressed the public at Scottsdale, Arizona, and recalled a past anecdote concerning John McCain.

Harris explained that the conversation happened when the two were attacking each other in a committee hearing. Later that day, the Republican senator praised her, saying that she would make a great senator one day.

"I step onto the floor of the well of the Senate later that day — we had votes — and I passed by John McCain, and he looks at me, and he says, ‘Kid, come over here. You’re going to make a great senator,’" Harris recalled.

During the speech, Harris also described the former Arizona senator as an "incredible American hero."

Moderate Republicans in Arizona have evolved into a target for the Democrats in these final moments of their Presidential campaign. Since John McCain had a rocky relationship with Donald Trump despite being a Republican, he has become a major talking point in several Democratic rallies in the Grand Canyon State.

In May 2008, Cliff Schecter published a book called The Real McCain: Why Conservatives Don't Trust Him, and Why Independents Shouldn't, diving deep into John McCain's real-life persona and media image. The book portrays him as a "temperamental political chameleon," exploring the various chapters of the life of the late senator, including the occupation of Iraq, abortion, and LGBTQIA+ rights.
