Who was Kerwin Rae married to? Motivational speaker, strategist and father passes away at 49
Australian motivational speaker Kerwin Rae passed away on October 18 at the age of 49. He was previously married to Kristen and had been a single father to their son, Noah, until his death on Friday. Additionally, he shared a son, Jonah, born in April 2022, with entrepreneur Krista Tier.
The news of Kerwin’s passing was announced on his official Instagram account on October 19, where the entrepreneur was honored with the message:
"Kerwin was a force of nature, there are countless stories to be told and so many words that could describe the epic human he was, but right now, we are too overwhelmed to express them."
The post requested that everyone who knew Kerwin, whether as a family member, a friend, a mate, or a mentor, keep the “extraordinary soul” in their thoughts and prayers.
The cause of Kerwin Rae's death has not yet been disclosed.
Kerwin Rae often spoke about parenting as a single father
It appears that Kerwin married his first wife, Kristen, in 2013, as seen from a Facebook post by the late entrepreneur, where he shared a video of their Maui wedding.
In another Facebook post from April 2019, Kerwin shared his insight about being a single dad. When he was asked for advice for newly single fathers or others who were on the verge of separating from their partners, Kerwin said:
"Not everyone is designed to be together forever. Have a goal."
He continued that his focus was his son, Noah, adding:
"I was like right, this journey from here on in, it's less about me and more about him, and making sure that I develop a happy, healthy child."
Kerwin Rae further spoke about "attachment parenting" his son Noah with his "ex-wife" in a 2020 Instagram post. Kerwin said he used to strap Noah to himself the first three months after his birth whenever his son would cry and could not be soothed. The late father of two explained:
"I'd strap him to me or hold him to my chest, and just breathe with him. That skin to skin contact is so important when it comes to building immunity and creating a sense of belonging for your child."
In an August 2020 interview with James Whittaker, Kerwin shared that one of the biggest challenges in his life was separation from Kristen "about three and a half years ago." Kerwin Rae revealed he grew up with a single parent, which made him yearn for creating a family of his own.
He described his ex-wife Kristen as an “incredible human being” and clarified that their decision to separate was thoughtful and conscious. However, he explained how the separation shattered the ideal notion of a family consisting of both a mother and a father he had in his head. He added:
"When we went through that period, it was very difficult, but it was very easy to see the benefits when you’re looking for them."
Kerwin Rae reflected on suddenly becoming a full-time dad during his time with Noah following his separation from Kristen, while they were co-parenting. He said this new experience had greatly changed his life, and he had no regrets but only gratitude.
