"Can’t hide from the Diddy list" — Netizens react as Ellen DeGeneres reportedly moves to the UK with her wife post Trump win

Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi have reportedly moved to the UK. TMZ reported on November 20, that Donald Trump’s election victory led to the couple’s departure, as told by an insider.

The pair reportedly put their Montecito estate in California up for sale before the move. However, it is to be noted that DeGeneres and Portia have reportedly purchased multiple properties in Montecito. It was not clear from the reports which one of these estates they planned to list on the market before moving to the UK.

Reports claim DeGeneres and Portia bought a home in Cotswolds — a rural region in South West England's center.

The couple reportedly obtained the property before the election results were out. DeGeneres publicly endorsed Democratic nominee Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential run. On August 23, she posted on Instagram:

"There’s nothing more powerful than a woman whose time has come!! I can’t wait for @KamalaHarris to be our next president."

Ellen DeGeneres reportedly made hefty donations to Harris’ campaign as well.

Although neither of the 66-year-old and her wife confirmed the reason behind their move, many took to social media to share their speculations. Several netizens brought up Sean "Diddy" Combs, insinuating DeGeneres might have been on the infamous "Diddy list", which supposedly prompted her to leave the country.

"Can’t hide from the Diddy list", wrote one X user.
"Or because she is about to get charged and go down with Diddy!", another commented.
"She's escaping criminal charges. I'd bet she's on Diddy's list", one more chimed in.

Several Hollywood celebrities, including Sharon Stone, America Ferrera, Cher, Whoopi Goldberg, and Raven-Symoné previously expressed their wish to leave the U.S., if Donald Trump wins the election.

"You mean a celebrity actually followed through on their promise??", wrote one.
"Sounds more like she and others are "on the run"", another person wrote.
"When does the winning stop? Ever? She's making America great again", commented another.

Ellen DeGeneres fell under public scrutiny following Diddy's arrest

Federal agents arrested Sean "Diddy" Combs was arrested on s*x trafficking and racketeering charges on September 16. Multiple celebrities with supposed ties to the mogul have faced public scrutiny since then. Ellen DeGeneres' friendship with Diddy was not spared from the speculations.

Following Diddy's arrest, many began looking upon celebrities close to the Bad Boy Records founder as supposed complicit in his alleged crimes. DeGeneres and Diddy were often pictured together in the past and seemingly shared a close bond. The former talk show host even had a nickname for Diddy, "Cuddle McSnuggglestuff", as seen in her resurfaced 2016 post.

A clip from Diddy's 2018 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show also came under scrutiny. During the interview, DeGeneres and the mogul spoke about an upcoming party she would throw. The comedian requested Diddy not to arrive late:

"You know, once you get there the party really starts."

Diddy assured her in response:

"I got you. I promise you I’m not gonna let you down on this big one, for real."

Many speculated the two were supposedly hinting at some questionable activities that were to take place at the party.

Some netizens also brought up the death of Stephen "tWitch" Boss, DeGeneres' talk show's co-executive producer and a recurrent guest. They speculated Boss supposedly acquired evidence against Diddy and DeGeneres, which ultimately had something to do with his death, which was ruled a su*cide.

DeGeneres' late former girlfriend Anne Heche's death was also questioned based on similar speculations.

However, these are only netizens' speculations and are not legally proven truths. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are yet to address their alleged move to the UK.
