The upcoming Air Jordan 2 sneaker makeover is themed on one of the greatest holidays, Christmas. The Air Jordan 2 "Christmas," also named as "Fire Red" has been one of the shoes for the 2023 holidays. The shoe is clad in Christmas-y hues of red and green, but the color blocking is kept subtle.
A release date for the Air Jordan 2 "Christmas" sneakers hasn't been announced by the swoosh label yet. However, according to media outlet House of Heat, the pair will be launched via the e-commerce site of Nike, SNKRS app and select retailers during holidays on November 18, 2023.
More about upcoming Nike Air Jordan 2 "Christmas" sneakers, which doubles as a nod to Italian flag
Nike and Michael Jordan's co-owned label shone a well-deserved light onto the Air Jordan 2 sneaker model in 2022 and 2023. The sneaker model received a spotlight after its initial debut in 1986, and the trend continues.
The Air Jordan 2 sneakers were co-designed by the swoosh label veterans Bruce Kilgore and Peter Moore to bring an era of innovation, luxury and the sophistication. The Jordan label site introduces the sneaker model as follows:
"With the introduction of the Air Jordan II comes a new era in footwear. On the heels of Michael Jordan's masterful entry into the game, and with calculated precision, the AJ II laid the visionary foundation for a long and prosperous footwear dynasty."
The latest makeover to surface of the sneaker model is the "Christmas," also called as "Italy" by Sneaker Bar Detroit. The silhouette comes clad in a "White/ Fire Red/ Sail/ Fir Green" color scheme, in the spirits of Christmas holiday.
The upper of the shoe comes constructed out of leather material, which is clad in a monochromatic white hue. The white hue contrasts with the green and red overlays.
The Fire red accents can be seen placed on the sock liners, midfiot and herl clip of the sneakers alongside the OG rubber outsoles in the south. The red hue contrasts with the Fir green pops, which are placed on the rear heel panels and the forefoot trims.
The midsoles are given a retro aesthetic, which can also double as a nod to the one of the most important drinks of festival: eggnog. Other than representing the Christmas holiday, many media outlets, including Complex, suggests that the pair represents the Italian flag, calling the sneaker makeover Air Jordan 2 "Italy."
A release date is yet to be announced, but it's rumored to drop in November 2023 at a retail price of $175 via the e-commerce site of Nike, SNKRS app and select Jordan Brand retailers.
