"She got caught in 4K"— Netizens react as Kamala Harris fake phone call claims erupt in wake of viral video

Kamala Harris visited the Democratic National Committee Headquarters in Washington D.C., on election day (November 5), where she was caught on video seemingly talking to an American voter. However, conservatives are now claiming that the call was fake and meant as a “staged” photo op.

According to the now-viral video, Harris was seen introducing herself to a caller after being handed a cell phone by a staffer.

“Hi. How you doing? I just came by to see if all [these] incredible people from every background who are all here voting make calls to reach out to our fellow Americans to remind you how important your vote is,” she was heard saying.

Kamala further asked the caller whether the individual had already voted. Seemingly receiving an affirmative response, she said, “You did? Thank you!” As the presidential candidate turned her phone towards the staffer so that the caller could hear the cheers around her, her phone screen reportedly revealed the camera app open, instead of an ongoing call screen.

The iPhone allows the camera app to remain open during an active call. Regardless, in the wake of the clip garnering traction online, the opposition is claiming Kamala Harris made a fake phone call. For instance, X user and conservative influencer Valentina Gomez (@ValentinaForUSA) commented on End Wokeness’ post sharing the viral video.

“She got caught in 4K. Everything is a lie with Kamala,” the user wrote.

Many joined the conversation on the platform and shared similar reactions.

“There is literally nothing real about that woman,” a person wrote.
“No one is more fake than Kamala Harris,” one person wrote.
“What a total fraud,” wrote another.
“4 years of this? Really? No thanks,” a user wrote.

Meanwhile, others pointed out that the call was real and explained how the latest iPhone works.

“Tested this LIVE. Debunked: The camera app still functions normally when in a call, but when you put the phone to your ear it goes to black just the way it did in this clip. Hope this helps,” a netizen wrote.
“She hit the Camera Control button to launch the camera on accident (new feature on iPhone 16). You can tell she was actually in a call because the screen turns off when she brings it back to her face. The prox sensor is not active in the camera app if you aren't in a call,” one netizen wrote.
“It doesn’t necessarily mean she’s not on a call. You can still open other applications while the call window flexes smaller above,” an individual wrote.
“Crying, bro! Trump supporters don’t even know how phones work. The US is cooked,” a supporter wrote.

While it remains unclear whether Kamala Harris’ phone call to the voter was genuine or fake, a different-angle image of her also surfaced online, that appeared to show her on an active call. However, it is unknown whether it was the same call.

Media outlets such as the Daily Mail reported that Kamala Harris made several phone calls to voters on election day. She urged them to go out and vote, as each of their contributions was “important.” The current Vice President was also heard thanking voters for participating in the election process, referring to it as the “foundation of our democracy.”

Both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump have participated in photo ops

Last month, Kamala Harris was in Pennsylvania doing a photo-op. However, the opposition claimed that it was staged. In the video shared by Trump supporters, Kamala Harris was heard sharing with her staffer how she wanted to knock on doors.

However, later, she was seen greeting a family on their porch without knocking on the door, thus, making the conservatives allege it was not genuine. Meanwhile, Kamala’s campaign shared a different clip online which showed her knocking on a closed door and being welcomed by a surprised resident, who asked her for a hug.

Likewise, Donald Trump also visited a Pennsylvania McDonald’s joint where he was seen serving fries to a drive-in customer through a window. However, liberals later pointed out that it was a publicity stunt, as the food joint was closed to the public. In fact, a sign was reportedly put up, apologizing to regular customers that the particular joint would be closed until 4 pm local time on the said day.

Claims also emerged that the U.S. Secret Service screened the customers. The Washinton Post even reported on October 20 that the apparent customers did not place an order, were positioned by the Secret Service, and received the fries Donald Trump handed over.
