"This his plan to take out all his non-supporters"— Netizens react as cruise line offers a 4-year trip to skip Trump's presidency
In the wake of Donald Trump's re-election as the US President, a Florida-based cruise line called Villa Vie Residences has announced the launch of its Tour La Vie program. The program will allow Americans to spend the next four years traveling across the world while skipping Trump’s presidency.
The Tour La Vie program offers a range of packages aboard the cruiser Villa Vie Odyssey, including a one-year “Escape from Reality” cruise, a two-year “Mid-Term Selection” cruise, a three-year “Everywhere but Home” cruise, and lastly, the four-year “Skip Forward” cruise. Prices start at under $40,000 per year.
"Residents have the flexibility to join their customized journey at any port during the continuous global adventure for up to 4 years," the company stated in a press release.
Amid this announcement, the internet is having diverse reactions. For instance, Instagram user @lala_camilla commented on The Neighborhood Talk’s post on the same by writing:
Many people joined the conversation and shared similar reactions on X.
“Insane levels of running away from your problems,” a person wrote.
“Best money I’ll ever spend,” one person wrote.
“At that point you might as well just move to a different country man,” wrote another.
Others continued to chime in and share their responses to the cruise announcement.
“Ironically, the people who CAN afford to go on a 4-year cruise vacation do not feel the need to escape Trump's term,” a netizen wrote.
“This sounds worse than Trump’s 2nd term,” another netizen wrote.
“They probably gonna have to work the ship themselves,” an individual wrote.
“I bet it's Trump behind this, wanting to execute his haters, lol,” another individual wrote.
Everything else you need to know about the Tour La Vie trip amid Trump’s re-election
According to Villa Vie Residences’ November 7 announcement, the Tour La Vie trip will enable passengers to travel across 425 ports and 140 countries for less than $40,000 per year. While single-occupancy cabins have been priced at $256,000 for four years, double-occupancy rooms will cost $320,000.
Apart from the stay, the packages also include food, drinks, WiFi, and medical checkups. Other amenities include alcohol at dinner, weekly housekeeping, and bi-weekly laundry services. Mikael Petterson, the CEO of the Florida cruise company, told Newsweek:
“We came up with this marketing campaign before we even knew who would win. Regardless of who would have won, you would have half of the population upset. Quite frankly, we don’t have a political view one way or the other. We just wanted to give people who feel threatened to have a way to get out.”
He also shared how they received a “huge uptick” in calls after their now-viral announcement in the wake of Trump’s victory. Meanwhile, the company’s Head of Sales, Anne Alms, shared:
“Villa Vie offers a unique one-of-a-kind way to see the whole world at a slow pace where you have enough time to actually experience the cultural vibe of every port. Your villa is your bedroom, and the ship is your home, she’ll take you across the globe to endless horizons.”
Some of the stops that the Tour La Vie Program will make include a month in the Caribbean, four months in South America, two Panama Canal transits, two World Wonders, the Chilean Fjords, Antarctica, the Carnival in Rio De Janeiro, and an eight-day journey through the Amazon, among others.
Villa Vie Odyssey, aka the cruise that will set sail on the four-year adventure, can house 600 boarders. In October, it began its 15-year-long world tour across seven continents, 13 world wonders, and over a hundred tropical islands.
The cruise already hosted a trial run on the election night with two separate watch parties. Notably, Americans who will take the Tour La Vie trip can cast their votes through mail-in ballots for the 2026 midterm and 2028 presidential elections.
Villa Vie Residences offered an "Endless Horizons" package earlier this year for those who wanted to combat inflation.
