“Thought this was a parody account”- Internet reacts as Donald Trump promises to fix McDonald’s ice cream machines if elected

Donald Trump recently promised to fix the McDonald's ice cream machines if he became the American President again and the internet went nuts. Trump took to X (formerly known as Twitter) on Saturday, October 26, and shared an edited picture of himself waving from a McDonald's drive-through window alongside an image of Joe Biden eating an ice cream cone.

In the image, Biden also sported a bright red Trump 2024 hat. The former American President's tweet went viral, amassing over 123 million views, at the time of writing this article. Trump captioned the picture with a promise that read:

"WHEN I’M PRESIDENT THE MCDONALD’S ICE CREAM MACHINES WILL WORK GREAT AGAIN!"

Social media users could not believe that the tweet came from the former president's actual X account. Prominent X user @ParikPatelCFA thought it was a troll. The user replied to Trump's tweet exclaiming:

"I thought this was a parody account wtf 😂"

Similar reactions followed as netizens acknowledged the humor behind the former president's tweet and suggested that this could be the greatest tweet of all time. Here are a few X reactions to Trump's tweet:

"Greatest tweet of all time?" asked one X user.
"This has got to be a top 5 Trump tweet of all time," added another user.
"One of your very best Tweets," said yet another user.

However, despite the overwhelming positive reaction to the tweet, a few users thought that the former president was being "desperate" and disliked the tweet.

"You’re desperate. It’s pathetic," thought one X user.
"The man child thinks he’s running for class President," added a second user.
"You were already president once and the country ran out of toilet paper," said a third user.
"Are you running for 5th grade class president or President of the United States?" asked a user who went by @MAGALieTracker.

Donald Trump made an appearance at a Pennsylvania McDonald's drive-through

Donald Trump has reminded people of his love for McDonalds on a plethora of occasions. Most recently, on Sunday, October 20, the former American President manned a drive-through fry station at a McDonald’s restaurant in Feasterville-Trevose, Pennsylvania.

The former president also did an impromptu news conference, answering questions from various people only through the drive-through window. Videos of Donald Trump working at the outlet went viral on social media. At one point the former president was even shown how McDonald's fries were made and packaged by an employee. The president said:

"It requires great expertise, actually, to do it right and to do it fast."

According to AP, the McDonald's outlet was closed to the public for Donald Trump's visit. Back in June, Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris claimed on X that she used to work at a McDonald's outlet as a student. However, Trump disputed the current Vice President's claims in a statement on Truth Social back in September, claiming that she was lying.

While at the drive-through window, the former President stated that he now worked "15 minutes more" than Kamala Harris at McDonald's. During a Pennsylvania rally on the very same date as his McDonald's outing, Trump further claimed:

"She said she [Kamala Harris] worked and she grew up in terrible conditions. She worked at McDonald's it was said. She never worked there. And these fake news reporters never reported, 'cause that's fake. They don't wanna report it. She never worked at McDonald's."

Donald Trump's love for McDonald's has been well documented. Way back in 2002, Trump once appeared in an ad for a fast food chain. Later in 2019, Trump famously treated champion college athletes with McDonald’s meals at the White House.
