What did Sharon Stone say? Actress' IQ comes under scrutiny in the wake of polarizing 'uneducated' comments about Americans

On November 24, actress Sharon Stone made headlines after she called the USA a country currently in its “ignorant, arrogant adolescence,” and her fellow Americans “uneducated.” Her remarks came at a panel discussion at the Torino Film Festival in Italy.

She explained that while Italy has a history of “fascism” and has experienced it before, the USA has not, and that is what makes the current sociopolitical scenario in her country unreliable.

“We haven’t seen this before in our country. So, Americans who don’t travel, who 80 percent don’t have a passport, who are uneducated, are in their extraordinary naïveté,” the Basic Instinct star shared.

Amid these viral comments, Sharon Stone has now come under scrutiny, especially with regards to her IQ. Reportedly, she has an IQ of 154 and made a claim years ago that she was part of Mensa, which she later retracted.

Regardless, here are some of the comments from the social media platform X criticizing her for lying about her IQ and calling Americans “uneducated.”

“Sharon Stone, for many years, maintained that she had an IQ of 148 and was a member of Mensa. She admitted in 2002 that she was not, and had never been, a member of Mensa. If you need to lie about your intelligence, you're probably not too smart,” a user wrote.

“In her statement today, she used the same word twelve times in two sentences. I don’t care that her publicist says she has a 154… she’s a vacant, empty shell who hates her country,” one person said.

“What is Sharon Stone's IQ??????? YOU ARE THE OUTRAGEOUS PERSON!!” wrote another.

“I think she’s high or very low,” a user mentioned.

Meanwhile, others continued to weigh in with their opinions.

“She has no idea how ignorant and arrogant she sounds as she lectures Americans about being ignorant and arrogant. The lack of self-awareness is almost comical. Things look different from an ivory tower,” a netizen wrote.

“That’s rich coming from someone who is naive, ignorant, and arrogant,” another netizen said.

“I'm dumber for listening to that!” an individual wrote.

“She seems to be in a senior borderline demented stage believing herself to be 'educated', that travel somehow equals judgment, and imagines herself to have experienced fascism. Shoo fly. Toxic Karen Syndrome,” commented another.

So far, Sharon Stone has not responded to the backlash.

Exploring further Sharon Stone’s latest remarks on the USA

Over the weekend, Sharon Stone was at the Torino Film Festival in Italy, where she was honored with the Stella della Mole Lifetime Achievement Award. Following the same, she was part of a panel discussion where she was asked to share her thoughts about the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

She responded that it was a “big question” to think about, and then took an indirect hit at the US President-Elect, Donald Trump.

"We have to stop and think about who we choose for government. And if, in fact, we are actually choosing our government or if the government is choosing itself,” Sharon shared.

The 66-year-old continued:

“My country is in the midst of adolescence. Adolescence is very arrogant. Adolescence thinks it knows everything. Adolescence is naive and ignorant and arrogant. And we are in our ignorant, arrogant adolescence.”

Sharon Stone further explained how the only way to help with issues such as violence against women was to extend help to each other. The Ratched star also dismissed the notion that only “women should help women because that’s the only way we have survived so far,” as she mentioned,

“We must say that good men must help good men, and those good men must be very aware that a lot of their friends are not good men.”

The Pennsylvania native addressed “good men” and asked them to clear their minds and understand that often their friends who pretend to be good are “dangerous, violent men.” The Oscar nominee even urged the former to keep away the latter from "your daughters, your wives, and your girlfriends," citing that people can no longer afford to “look away when bad men are bad.”

Sharon Stone wrapped up by reflecting on a comedian’s skit that claimed that while heart disease was the primary cause of death in men, “the number one killer for women is men,” adding it is “very important to remember that.”

Meanwhile, conservative political activist, influencer, and swimmer Riley Gaines called out Sharon Stone on Tuesday, November 26, for her latest remarks.

“These out-of-touch Hollywood elitists calling American voters uneducated is peak hypocrisy. They lecture from their ivory towers while being completely disconnected from the everyday realities most Americans face,” the 24-year-old wrote on social media.

Notably, Alec Baldwin is also facing backlash alongside Stone. The Cooler actor was also in Italy for a special screening of his 1990 film The Hunt for Red October, as he shared that “Americans have an appetite for a little bit of information” and reflected on the importance of filmmaking at such a “difficult time” for the USA.

This is not the first time Sharon Stone has spoken about the sociopolitical scene in the USA. Earlier this year in July, she appeared at Italy’s Taormina Film Fest and shared with Deadline that while she was a “proud American,” she was “deeply concerned” with what was happening in her country.

Back then, the Casino star also shared how she was considering relocating to Europe because of Donald Trump’s growing influence and “running for office on a platform of hate and oppression.”
