Who is Bernard Lagrange? Vampire Diaries star Phoebe Tonkin seemingly announces her engagement
Actress Phoebe Tonkin and partner Bernard Lagrange are seemingly engaged. According to Cultured magazine, Langrage has been employed at the Gagosian Art Advisory as a director for around four years and was previously a cataloguer in the contemporary art department of Sotheby's.
The Vampire Diaries star seemingly confirmed the engagement through her Instagram page on October 28 with a lineup of photos. She wrote below the post:
"Film back from the summer of love. Special first photo by my friend @mark_bauch [white heart emoji]."
The first picture featured Phoebe Tonkin and Bernard Lagrange kissing each other. Another photo shows the duo sharing a kiss at another outdoor location. The photos also included a snap in which Tonkin put her hand on Lagrange's hair while the duo was sitting in a car, and the camera focused on a ring on Phoebe's finger.
Furthermore, there were some photos of Phoebe and Bernard posing alone in a natural spot. However, Tonkin did not reveal anything about the places they had been to.
Netizens were spotted questioning Tonkin about the ring in the comments section. Tonkin has not responded to any of those comments and she is yet to officially confirm the engagement news from her side.
Phoebe Tonkin's partner is well-established in the art world
The recent reports of Tonkin and Lagrange getting engaged have already created headlines everywhere. Although the former has maintained some privacy when it comes to her personal life, Lagrange has managed to build a successful career for himself in the art world.
Bernard Lagrange completed his higher studies at Princeton University in 2014, as per his LinkedIn page. The profile says that he even worked as an intern for David Zwirner and Gagosian Gallery for around a year while pursuing his education.
In 2012, he joined Frieze as a summer intern and became an assistant for the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation the same year. He then got employed as an associate cataloguer for Sotheby's in 2014 and was eventually promoted as a special assistant to the CEO of Contemporary Art & Digital the following year.
Back in June last year, Lagrange opened up on how he prepares himself for an Art Basel, which refers to an international art fair. He told Cultured magazine in June 2023:
"It depends on the fair. For Basel, it tends to be smarter on the first day, so I'll wear a suit, My father would disown me if it was anything but Huntsman. Converse or On Training for shoes."
Phoebe Tonkin has kept her personal life away from the spotlight
The 35-year-old has accumulated a huge fanbase with a range of performances over the years. But apart from that, Phoebe Tonkin has maintained silence when it comes to her relationships. Although her name was reportedly linked to popular faces such as Paul Wesley and Alex Greenwald, she never made anything official through any platform.
While speaking to Elle magazine in 2015, Phoebe Tonkin spoke up about not revealing much about her personal life:
"I definitely try not to put too much about my personal life. But the other side of that it that I'm 25, and sometimes I'm happy and I want to share photos in the same way that all my other friends who are at uni or are working in Sydney do."
Also known as Phoebe Jane Elizabeth Tonkin, she is mostly known for playing Hayley Marshall in The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. She was last seen in the Netflix series, Boy Swallows Universe, which premiered back in January this year.
