Conor McGregor faces medical suspension for two months
What's the story?
Conor McGregor is all set to be out of action for two months after being suspended from action by the Nevada State Athletic Commission following his loss to Floyd Mayweather on Saturday. This means that the Irishman will not be allowed to fight, either boxing or MMA, until October 26 and no physical contact will be allowed until October 11.
He will have to undertake a medical exam at the end of the duration of the suspension before he will be allowed to return to competition.

In case you didn't know
McGregor took on Floyd Mayweather at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in what was billed as the 'Money Fight'.
It was scheduled to be contested over 12 rounds but many expected it to be a blowout, given the fact that McGregor was making his debut in the ring and Mayweather being one of the all-time greats in the history of professional boxing.
The heart of the matter
Much to his credit, McGregor started off bravely and tried to catch his opponent off guard by attacking from the word go. Mayweather too opted to bide his time and take the early blows, waiting for the right moment to strike.
The Irishman started each round all guns blazing, but by the time the ninth round came, he ran out of gas, and it was then that Mayweather chose to pounce. The American fighter started connecting with his big straight rights and had McGregor in serious trouble. However, the UFC Lightweight Champion managed to survive the round.
The deal was sealed in Round 10 as Mayweather ran riot, and after a flurry of big punches, the referee intervened and stopped the fight, thus awarding the win to the Mi via technical knockout.
What's next?
With UFC events lined up in November and December, it remains to be seen when McGregor will return to the Octagon. There are rumours of him competing on the card scheduled for December 31.
Author's take
The suspension is a standard procedure and understandable given the circumstances. We hope that McGregor returns to action soon and we can watch him take down opponents again!
