"That fight was probably 70-75% work" - WWE Hall of Famer on Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson
Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson may be the most streamed sporting event of all time but not everyone seems to care about the stats. While many viewers are leaning towards the entertainment aspect of the fight, some are still calling Paul and Tyson out for putting up a 'staged' bout.
WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry recently gave his opinion on the 'real versus fake' controversy surrounding Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson. Speaking on What Were They Thinking? on Backstage Pass, the former World's Strongest Man said he believed most of the fight (if not all) was a work.
"That fight was probably, in my opinion, about a 70-75 percent work. And there's a guy on the internet that pulled about seven clips of Mike Tyson pulling punches and Jake talking to him, saying, 'Hey, back it down son.'" [04:20 onwards]
Elsewhere on the podcast, Henry shared his praise for both men for being able to put in the work to draw huge crowds into the arena, saying he'd watch Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson if it happened again.
"The fight happened; it made the most money where it's supposed to be. I don't fought them (on social media). I commend them. And when they do it again, I'll watch again," Mark Henry stated. [05:32 onwards]
According to Netflix, the fight broke numerous streaming records when it comes to sporting events. Jake Paul recently addressed the fight during an interview with his brother Logan Paul. Check out his comments here.
Speaking of Logan, 'The Maverick' was called out by Tyson after the fight. It remains to be seen if the powers that be will make the bout official.
