With finally a worthy competitor for WWE on the blocks, things are bound to get controversial.
While we don't know what the future holds, we can always speculate. And no, this article doesn't contain any speculations regarding a comeback by CM Punk or AJ Lee.
So let's start with the first thing that comes to the mind for a rival promotion.
#5 Monday Night Wars
RAW and WCW's Monday Nitro went head-to-head with each other in the same time frame for brand supremacy, this war for ratings was termed as Monday Night Wars. This period was responsible for the evolution of WWE into an adult-oriented Attitude Era.
In present perspective, AEW could either go after RAW or Smackdown and could start another war for the ratings.
Although Smackdown is currently regarded as the B-show, RAW would be a preferable option if AEW wants to start a war as the FOX deal would place Smackdown at a prominently much better position.
Multiple offers have been made for TV deals, but none have been signed yet. The current expectation is that AEW will start airing weekly TV later this year which corresponds to the blue brand's move to FOX.
With a lot of star power shifting to the blue brand, RAW remains vulnerable for another set of war.
