AEW All Out: Chris Jericho Vs. Hangman Page, who should win?
The build to All Elite Wrestling's All Out event and inaugural World Championship main event started back at AEW's debut show, Double or Nothing.
The pre-show of the event saw Elite member, Hangman Page, enter and win the Casino Battle Royal to gain entry into the promotion's inaugural World Championship match set for AEW's All Out Pay-Per-View this weekend.
That same evening, we saw Chris Jericho defeat Kenny Omega in the main event to become the second contestant for the gold. This will be the main event at All Out, as Chris Jericho battles Hangman Page to become the inaugural AEW World Champion.
The match has sparked a debate among pro wrestling fans with regards who should walk out of Chicago as the first AEW World Champion. In my opinion, the short answer is Chris Jericho.
I am a big fan of Hangman Page, however, All Elite Wrestling is still in that phase where it can seemingly do no wrong.
In WWE for example, if one of Vince McMahon's favorite superstars is heavily pushed to the main event scene, the WWE Universe would instantly turn on that superstar. Despite how impressive Roman Reigns and Charlotte Flair are, the fans turned on them as soon as they were heavily pushed.
A majority of the Elite are vice presidents or at the very least partake considerably in the decision-making process. Despite Page being a formidable athlete, this fact could work against him.
He is a prominent member of the Elite and cares about his position in wins/losses. Page could have put Pac over at Double or Nothing, but instead wanted to come out on top. This conflicted with Pac's interests, as he didn't want Dragon Gate Championship looking weak. Pac dropped out of the show.
AEW has big plans for Adam Page, that's an obvious fact. However, the AEW faithful still hasn't turned on the promotion at the moment. It should stay that way.
Another reason Chris Jericho needs to win is legitimacy.
All Elite Wrestling is a brand new promotion which is yet to crown its inaugural champions. Chris Jericho is probably the biggest superstar in the company and is one of the greatest wrestlers in history.
The fresh World Championship should have an inaugural holder of Jericho's caliber, as this would bring legitimacy to the championship.
Also, Jericho is already AEW's top heel. Giving him a long run as champion, culminating in an eventual loss to Hangman Page or another top face would mean more, and could be a bigger moment for the company down the line at perhaps a bigger and more meaningful event.
