EPW Hot Summer’s Night 2019: 3 best matches from the show
The sixth edition of Hot Summer’s Night was held on February 2 at the Gate One Theater in Perth. It was the first event of the year of Explosive Pro Wrestling, a wrestling company founded in 2001 and considered one of the most famous in Australia and the most famous in Western Australia.
The show consisted of seven matches in which only one of the three titles of the company was in dispute. Gavin McGavin successfully retained the EPW Heavyweight Championship by defeating Mick Moretti. This was the seventh successful defense of McGavin, whose reign has already exceeded 170 days.
In a show of this magnitude, almost all the matches were up to the circumstances, but only a few will be remembered over the months. Here are the three best matches of Hot Summer’s Night 2019.
#3 The Untouchables (Damian Slater & Marcius Pitt) vs. Julian Ward & Scotty Ryan
In the fifth match of the night, we saw The Untouchables (Damian Slater & Marcius Pitt) defeating Scotty Ryan & Julian Ward in a tag team match that lasted 15 minutes and 57 seconds.
The lack of chemistry between Ryan and Ward was evident, unlike Slater and Pitt, who showed a lot of coordination and impeccable teamwork.
Despite the poor coordination of Ryan and Ward, both had outstanding moments, although they didn’t perform remarkable joint maneuvers. The highlight was an amazing Springboard Dropkick by Ryan on Slater and Pitt.
Pitt got the pin fall after covering Ward after three consecutive moves: a German Suplex, a Clothesline, and Midnight Hour with Slater.
Scotty Ryan and Julian Ward had a not very friendly exchange of words after the defeat and agreed to a match at EPW Goldrush in April where Scotty Ryan will defend his EPW Coastal Championship.
