From the WWE Rumor Mill: Brock Lesnar to accept Jinder Mahal's Survivor Series challenge tonight on RAW?
What's the story?
WWE may well have spoiled a RAW segment and Survivor Series match during last night's TLC Kick-off show. A promo for Survivor Series aired showcasing the rumoured match between Jinder Mahal and Brock Lesnar, leading many to believe that Mahal's challenge will be accepted tonight.
In case you didn't know
If the WWE Universe was polled following the 2016 Survivor Series, a number of matches may have been put forward for the 2017 edition of the show. Of all the matches prognosticated, Brock Lesnar vs. Jinder Mahal simply would not have been on the list.
Jinder Mahal was an enhancement talent at best at that point, and the Canadian-born star's rise to the WWE Championship has taken the entire wrestling world by surprise. Even so, a Mahal vs. Lesnar match has never seemed likely.
But here we are, and the Modern Day Maharaja has challenged The Beast Incarnate to a Champion vs. Champion match at Survivor Series 2017. The WWE Champion laid out the challenge last week on SmackDown Live, before being interrupted by former champion AJ Styles.
The heart of the matter
The Lesnar vs. Mahal match is seemingly a lock at this point, but it is yet to be confirmed in WWE canon. Paul Heyman and his client are scheduled to appear on WWE's flagship show this evening, where they will almost certainly address the challenge laid out by Jinder Mahal.
It is unclear whether the WWE Universal Champion will open the show this evening, with the fall out from WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs likely to take centre-stage. Jinder has been in South America with the SmackDown Live roster over the weekend, so it is unlikely that the WWE Champion will make an appearance on the show tonight.
WWE fans can expect Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar to make the Survivor Series match official tonight.
What's next?
The 2017 Survivor Series takes place on November 19 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The card is yet to be confirmed but Jinder Mahal vs. Brock Lesnar is likely to be one of the main matches on the card. A number of other cross-brand bouts are expected to take place.
Author's take
Does anyone genuinely want to see Jinder Mahal vs. Brock Lesnar? It seems like such a strange match, and not in a good way. Jinder's in-ring work is yet to rise up to the level WWE officials may have hoped, and a match with Brock is unlikely to change that. Both men could be doing something far more productive at the pay-per-view.
