Indie Wrestling News: Sabu stabs Jimmy Havoc in the eye

Never c
Never challenge Sabu to a no holds barred match

What's the story?

Jimmy Havoc got way more than he bargained for when he squared off against Sabu. Havoc is no stranger to hardcore matches but he probably didn't expect that the ECW Legend and his opponent at an IPW show would end up stabbing him in the face.

In case you didn't know...

Hardcore wrestling is the art of taking things to the extreme. They can be bloody, merciless, and without any reason or logic at times. Some of your favourite wrestling stars might have come from these hardcore roots with broken glass and barbed wire. If you couldn't ever imagine seeing Dean Ambrose's head lacerated with a jigsaw, then the footage is out there.

Havoc's hardcore roots are inherent by the manner in which he carries himself and he really seems to live the gimmick. However, everyone has their limits and if being stabbed in the face isn't over the line, then I'd love to know what he wouldn't be willing to do in the ring.

The heart of the matter

International Pro Wrestling: United Kingdom was holding a big show on Wednesday night and Sabu squared off against Jimmy Havoc in a no holds barred match. These matches can usually get a little over the top, but Havoc really experienced a hardcore experience at the UK Super 8 Tournament.

You can check out Havoc's tweet to see the face mutilating spot in question. It was pretty extreme and just shows the trust you need to have with someone in the ring. But Havoc said that he's not happy about it, and if he's being serious, who could blame him?

WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne was at the show and the two posted a pretty great picture together. After all, it's not every day when a photo op like this presents itself unless, for some reason, Sabu is always stabbing your friends in the face.

What's next?

Havoc has a great career ahead of him, especially if he can leave spots like this in the rearview mirror. In time he might wind up in WWE, but he probably would need to nix a lot of his favourite hardcore spots.

Meanwhile, what is there to say about Sabu except that he's a hardcore legend so what else should we expect?

Author's take

This is one of the more cold-blooded spots I've seen in a good while. Don't get me wrong, I've seen plenty of hardcore action in the ring which would make most people head for the hills but there's just something different when someone gets literally stabbed in the face two times.

Now that's showing a passion for pro wrestling when you're willing to get stabbed in the face for the profession you love. We wish him a speedy recovery!
