NJPW News: Jim Ross comments on fans criticizing Kenny Omega vs. Chris Jericho match
What’s the story?
WWE’s legendary commentator Jim Ross recently published a new blog entry where he wrote regarding the upcoming mega match between Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho.
In his blog entry, Ross particularly pointed out towards the fans who have had complaints regarding the match which will take place at Wrestle Kingdom 12 in 2018.
In case you didn’t know…
Earlier this week, at NJPW’s Power Struggle event Kenny Omega successfully defended his IWGP United States Championship against Trent Beretta in a gruelling match. Following his win over Beretta, the Bullet Club leader cut a promo on the NJPW roster saying that there is no one in the company who can defeat “The Cleaner” as he has defeated everyone.
However, minutes later Omega was interrupted by former six-time WWE World Champion Chris Jericho who appeared on the titantron and cut a promo on Omega and thus challenged him to a title match in Tokyo next year. Omega would accept Jericho’s challenge and the match was set.
The heart of the matter
Ross stated on his blog entry that he is confused about the fact that how people can complain regarding the match between Omega and Jericho at Wrestle Kingdom 12.
JR believes that it was excellent booking on NJPW’s behalf and thinks that the two Canadians will rock the Tokyo Dome come January 4th.
Ross also added by saying that Omega vs. Jericho will also help NJPW to sell more tickets for their Wrestle Kingdom show and thinks that the match between the two Winnipeg natives can help NJPW achieve their goal of getting 30,000 fans for the Wrestle Kingdom show.
What’s next?
Chris Jericho has certainly shocked the entire wrestling world by deciding to wrestle at Wrestle Kingdom, without giving wrestling fans any sort of clue beforehand. The former WWE US Champion is currently busy touring with his rock band Fozzy but one thing’s for sure, come January 4th “The Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla” will be prepared for “The Cleaner”.
As far as, Omega is concerned he is currently focusing on his NJPW career. The IWGP US Champion will be a part the upcoming NJPW: World Tag League tour where he is scheduled to team up with his Bullet Club stablemates, the Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) as The Elite will take on Roppongi 3K in a star studded six man tag team match.
Omega will also appear at ROH’s Survival of the Fittest tour (which also features famous television actor Stephen Amell), as Kenny Omega teams up with his fellow Bullet Club brother and current ROH World Champion, Cody Rhodes who will face the tag team of Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian known as The Addiction.
Author’s take
Personally, I agree with Jim Ross, I think there are no reasons for fans to complain regarding this dream match between Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho, which I think has been perfectly booked by NJPW.
