NJPW/WWE News: Kenny Omega Reveals His Future Goals In Pro Wrestling
What's the story?
Ever since dropping the IWGP Heavyweight Championship to Hiroshi Tanahashi at Wrestle Kingdom 13, there have been several concerns regarding Kenny Omega's future in professional wrestling.
Omega, who recently made his first public appearance since WK 13, has now shed further light on his future goals.
In case you didn't know...
At Wrestle Kingdom 13, Kenny Omega's first and only reign as IWGP Heavyweight Champion came to an end when 'The Best Bout Machine' was defeated by 'The Ace of The Universe' Hiroshi Tanahashi in a grueling main event at the Tokyo Dome.
Omega, who initially won the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at Dominion 6.9 by defeating Kazuchika Okada, had successfully defended his championship against Cody Rhodes, Tomohiro Ishii, and for his final successful title defense defeated both Cody and fellow Golden Lover Kota Ibushi in a three-way match.
The heart of the matter
Kenny Omega's current contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling is all set to expire at the end of this month and the former leader of The Bullet Club has openly admitted to the fact that he is indeed done with NJPW for now and will not be returning to the promotion anytime soon.
Omega, who made his first public appearance since WK 13 at the Tokyo Sports 2018 Grand Awards, stated in his Match Of The Year acceptance speech that his current goal is to compete on a larger platform.
What's next?
In a recent report, it was noted that Kenny Omega turned down an offer to sign with the WWE, however, with All Elite Wrestling yet to establish themselves as a proper global promotion it does remains to be seen where Omega will eventually end up.
Signing with AEW is the likeliest option for Omega from here onwards or he could just re-sign with NJPW by the end of this month. Either way, it'll be interesting to see where 'The Best Bout Machine' actually ends up from here onwards.
