The American Nightmare will finally get his hands on Kenny Omega at Supercard of Honor

What’s the story?

Bullet Club member Cody Rhodes recently spoke with Max Laughton for FOX Sports Australia during which he talked about the on-going issues with Kenny Omega and why he cannot call the former IWGP US Champion as his leader.

In case you didn’t know…

After several months of on-going issues within the Bullet Club, “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes finally decided to betray his leader Kenny Omega, when he attacked “The Cleaner” with a Cross Rhodes at NJPW’s New Beginning in Sapporo event.

The heart of the matter

While speaking with Max Laughton, Cody stated that he is not capable enough of being in a faction where he is not the leader. In addition, Cody also recalled that the only time he worked under a leader in a faction was during his Legacy days when he worked alongside Randy Orton (And Ted Dibiase). However, Cody claims that he was completely okay with Orton being the leader of a group because Rhodes was "young and green and a rookie in the industry at that time", but, times have certainly changed now.

Additionally, Cody also said that after having a world title run with Ring of Honor, it is truly difficult for him to label someone else as his leader. Cody also added, that this natural tension that currently exists within the Bullet Club is mostly because of Omega having the reputation of being the best wrestler in the world, whereas, Cody himself, on the other hand, has that mainstream appeal that helped gain a bunch of new fans for the Bullet Club. He added:

“The fact that I think Matt likes me more, and Nick likes Kenny, it’s all real. So why not have a match? Why not make it real?”

What’s next?

Cody Rhodes and Kenny Omega will get a fair chance to settle their differences come 7th of April when the two men finally get to square off in a one-on-one match at ROH: Supercard of Honor XII at the Lakefront Arena, in New Orleans.

Author’s take

Cody Rhodes has elevated himself as one of the top stars on the planet today, all thanks to his work with Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and the Independent scene and come 7 April 2018, there is no doubt that both Rhodes and Omega will put up one of the best matches of the year at Supercard of Honor.
