Will Baron Corbin become the permeant GM this Sunday?

What the story?

RAW General Manager Elect Baron Corbin was on WWE Hall of famer Booker T’s podcast, Heated Conversations, and amongst many topics the former United States champion discussed the fan’s reactions to the flagship show from the past several weeks.

In Case You Didn’t Know…

To many fans and critics, the quality of RAW has been on a downward spiral since Survivor Series. Since Roman Reigns was sadly forced to leave the professional wrestling world due to his battle with Leukemia, the flagship show had to undergo drastic changes that affected a good portion of the landscape on the red brand.

Fans and critics have sighted poor storytelling, illogical booking, and the lack of fresh ideas being the detriment to the quality of the show. The reported problems with the show have many fans frustrated with the product and the overall viewership of RAW has noticeably dipped since Survivor Series.

This past Monday reached a historical low as RAW averaged 2.286 million viewers, down from the 2.368 million viewers last week, and a record low for a non-holiday episode. The show featured Ronda Rousey & Ember Moon besting Tamina & Nia Jax, Rhyno getting fired, and Drew McIntyre suffering his first singles loss on the main roster.

The heart of the matter

The RAW GM-Elect appeared on Heated Conversations recently and spoke on the criticism that the flagship show has received lately. Wrestling Inc was able to translate the podcast conversation between Baron Corbin and Booker T, in which the RAW superstar states that just because Twitter fans are the loudest, it doesn’t mean it’s the opinion of the entire WWE Universe:

“Just because [Twitter fans] are the loudest, it doesn't mean they're the majority. It's good that people speak their minds about these kinds of things, but it's my show and if you want to change it, try. That's what I say. Come get it, if you want it. I'm in charge, but tonight we're going to step it up and put something fresh out there. We're always out there like [Booker T] said to put on the best show possible. I want tonight to be better than last week. I want last week to be better than the week before. I want next week to be better than this week. Like, if you're not getting better, you're getting worse,” Corbin stated.

Check out the entire podcast where Corbin bashes “a bunch of idiots” who make social media unbearable, along with many other professional wrestling topics.

What’s Next?

Tonight’s go-home show according to WWE.com will see the aftermath of last week’s episode of Drew McIntyre’s assault on Finn Balor, Heath Slater’s new position as a referee, and the continuation of the feud between Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose.
