How to play The Space Simulator

The Space Simulator is a space exploration game, where you gather resources to power up your ship and explore the vast expanse of space. This title is all about visiting various planets in the solar system, and using what you find to make exploration more efficient. You can utilize the ship for exploration, or step out of the shuttle and float in zero gravity for a closer look at space.

Here’s how you can get started with The Space Simulator.

The Space Simulator is, at its very core, an experience of material collection. Finding items to propel your journey is at the heart of the game and you will always be on the lookout for ship upgrades. The mechanics that facilitate this involve a spaceship and your trusty spacesuit.

You can venture beyond our pale blue dot in the solar system and close the distance between you and other planets. Go from one celestial body to the next, in search of the materials required, and collect them for boosts. You can also make use of the Hubble Telescope to learn more about the desired celestial bodies.

Furthermore, you can perform rescue operations while out flying across the stars. Answer the distress signals sent by astronauts in peril and receive useful materials in return. Along the way, you may even encounter lifeforms foreign to us.

Featured gameplay elements

Interstellar movement

Movement is the first thing to master in this experience, as you will be traversing in all three axes at the same time. While in outer space, the typical movement keys (W, S, A, D) only orient you in 3D space, while propulsion is relegated to the Spacebar. You may use Left Ctrl to halt your momentum, giving you better control over your movement.

The movement keybindings remain the same while exploring in a spacesuit, but you will be tethered to your ship at all times. While you can sever the wire keeping you tethered, it is advised not to do so to avoid having any difficulties returning to the ship.

When you approach a planet, the game will move you to a map of its surface, where the movement keybindings will return to default. Here, you can use your pickaxe to mine resources and collect Planet Orbs. These resources are essential for propelling your journey across the stars since they can be exchanged for Credits, the main in-game currency.

With Credits, you can purchase Speed and Durability upgrades for your ship, making it faster and better at traversal.

Orb collection, Modules, and Seasons

One of the primary objectives of this experience is to collect Planet Orbs. Somewhere on the map of each celestial body is a Planet Orb, which can be picked up and brought back to Earth. You can deposit these Orbs to earn VIP status, unlocking special perks that would otherwise require premium methods.

During your travels, you may also find Modules on asteroids that can be exchanged for resources on Earth. These Modules come in various rarities and give you better rewards for turning in the rarest ones.

A reliable way to obtain Modules is through the Season system, which changes each Saturday. Seasons involve searching for Centaur asteroids throughout the solar system, which include Rare, Epic, or Legendary Crates.
