Khel Mahakumbh partners with Vadodara International Half Marathon
Vadodara International Half Marathon , which has now become the identity of the cultural capital of Gujarat, has an added feather in the crown with Khel Mahakumbh , an initiative by Governement of Gujarat partnering with Marathon. With this the 15km and 21 km run has been introduced as a sport in the Khel Mahakumbh , for the first time in Gujarat. This will also be a part of the marathon occurring on February 7, 2016.
With long run being a part of the Khel Mahakumbh , now the participants can register free of cost at the 15km and 21Km run happening in the city. The marathon will also have an another attraction where the disabled fraternity , which is now termed as the divyang community will also participate in the 1km special run happening in the marathon event.
Talking to media, VIHM Chairperson Tejal Amin said “Participants from across the state will now be participating in our Vadodara Marathon. Due to this runners from various parts of the state , country and abroad will participate at the marathon event. We welcome the Khel Mahakumbh partnership with Vadodara Marathon.”
Commenting on the partnership Finance minister of the state, Shree Saurabh Patel said, “ With the partnership of Khel Mahakumbh , a government initiative partnering with Vadodara marathon , now thousands of Barodians will run on Feb 7, 2016. Along with 15km and 21km run , a special 5km run is scheduled which will be known as the Swacchta run. Not only that the disabled community, which has been termed as Divyang community will also run a 1km marathon”.
The VIHM team has also created an android application which will help the runners to register from their mobile phones. The launching of the mobile app was done by the Finance minister of the state Saurabhbhai Patel. The information on marathon route map, flage off and finish point, medical point etc is also available in the app. So now the participants will get the marathon updates on the go.
