One Race Super Sikh Run 2017 to promote humanitarian values and the concept of ‘seva’
The Second edition of the Super Sikh Run was held on World Human Rights was held on Thursday. This unique Half Marathon organised by the Delhi based Super Sikh Foundation event saw more than 4,500 runners from all communities participate to promote brotherhood and the concept of ‘Seva’.
Hero Electric, the country’s largest electric two-wheeler manufacturer, was the title sponsor for the run with 25 e-bikes marshalling the event, and Photon e-bikes as the top 3 prizes.
The Run is held annually from the historic site of the 350-year-old Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib in central Delhi and was jointly flagged off by the Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda, Major DP Singh, Kargil war veteran and India’s first blade runner, Mr Alok Mittal, IG, National Investigative Agency and Mr Naveen Munjal, CMD Hero Electric.
“Through One Race SuperSikh Run, we commit to doing everything in our power to foster brotherhood, improve lives of others, inspire them to a life of fitness to give them hope of a better future,” said Gurpreet Wasi, President Super Sikh Foundation and organiser of this run.
The Super Sikh Run is a time-chipped, professional half-marathon organised every year by the Super Sikh Foundation. It is an inclusive event, open to runners of all races, faiths and backgrounds. As much as 15% of the ticket sales of the Super Sikh Run 2017 go to Khalsa Aid, a global humanitarian organisation.
“Super Sikh Run, seeks to give back to the society and encourage people to live active eco-friendly lives,” said Rajeev Chawla, Co-organizer, Super Sikh Run.
The run was also attended by Man Kaur, World Master Champion in 100m race, Amarjeet Singh Chawla, a visually impaired marathon runner with a target to complete 100 half marathons by 2019, Jagwinder Singh, the Paralympic cyclist without hands and Captain Shalini Singh, Mrs India woman of Substance 2017.
