TCS World 10K participant sees race interrupted by stray dog

Ethiopia’s Mule Wasihan finished in 9th after a dog attacked him

Ethiopian runner Mule Wasihan, who was participating in the recently concluded TCS World 10k in Bengaluru, saw his race seriously impaired after being attacked by a stray dog en route to the finish line.

Wasihan, who had a steady, quick time at the marathon until the incident, lost his way on the route after taking a wrong turn, losing the time he had gained on his competitors.
However, that was not the worst to happen.

According to reports, Wasihun had reached near the city’s Cubbon Park Metro Station when the dog gave him chase. The runner sped up to avoid the dog in his path, but the canine ran in between the athlete’s legs, and Wasihun, who had by then built up a steady momentum, was unable to stop.

That prompted the dog, who had been accidentally kicked, to attack.

Wasihan, who was alleged to have had the lead, ended the race in 9th as a result.
