The first big run of the year, the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon was flagged off in Mumbai, India this morning, the 17th of January 2016.

In a video tweeted by user @theRohitBansal on Twitter, a mother is seen encouraging her son, Angad, across the finish line. The young man has special needs, and was part of the Champions with Disability section of the marathon, which organisers have targeted to those who suffer from mental and physical disabilities.

The woman is seen standing at the finish line with a chair as her son takes his final steps of the marathon. Clapping and cheering his name, Angad’s mother goads him to finish. Other marathoners around him slow down to encourage the young man, applauding and encouraging him for completing a milestone significant for those who may not be cognitively challenged.
